I may not have posted much, but I've read a bunch off SDN which has helped tremendously and thought I should contribute. 🙂

PAT- 20 :scared:
Bio - 21
GC - 25
OC - 30 😎
RC - 21
QR - 21

TS- 24
AA - 24

GPA: 4.0

I'm pretty ok with most of my scores. I'm a little disappointed with bio and PAT, but I'll live. I was thought I did pretty well until I saw other people's scores on here!! ha

I took the Kaplan class and it was TOTAL CRAP. The online stuff is fine but the in class portion was a waste. I'd sit there playing Words With Friends the whole time. So pointless

Basically my study materials included:
- Kaplan's online stuff and Blue Blue
- Cliff's Bio
- CDP
- Destroyer
- College notes

Overall I thought the test was pretty basic. Nothing to indepth

PAT-- I just got some weird figures and things. CDP is great prep and I was making like 22/23 on there which is why I was a little dissapointed in my score, but CDP is still a MUST (I got the 10 test version)

Bio - pretty straightforward. I had a few random WTF questions, but it wasn't bad. I did memorize Cliff's and KBB though and had great bio profs so I could just have a skewed opinion

GC - I was super worried about this because I am great at chem but on practice tests I was so all over the place. Sometimes I'd get 20's and other times 16/17 ! But the DAT is pretty straightforward. Not many calculations but more of just setting up the problems. The Destroyer and Kaplan were good enough for me!

OC- I thought it was a piece of cake. Sometimes I didn't even have to do the rxn because you look and notice, oh, that forms some sort of ketone, look at the answers and only one had a ketone. It's REALLY BASIC so don't freak out. Nothing too complicated I promise! Just know your reactions, but also understand them. I think understanding over memorizing is KEY!!

RC- Pretty simple. I was happy with my score on this actually because again on Kaplan tests I'd be all over the place. Sometimes I'd bomb and other times I do alright. There were a lot of "englishy" questions though like "what was the tone of this" or "what's the author's view" or "what's the purpose" or "what would be the best way to end this essay?" -- Things like that. I pretty much did S&D though

QR - Destroyer was awesome. KBB was too basic though the online stuff was good. Know your trig functions and basic equations and you should be fine! Nothing too crazy, though I did have like 3 of those f(x)/ g(x) type problems including something about transforming some graphs that caught me off guard, but it wasn't bad!

-- Overall, best strategy is to MARK questions that you don't immediately know and just come back to them. I know it's hard to just skip over a problem, but trust me, it's the BEST way to ensure you get the highest score! This way you get all the easy ones right then spend your extra time on those few toughies.

I'm a rising junior and decided to take the DAT early since I just finished Ochem. Best decision hands down. Having the summer to study solely on the DAT and have that focus was the best decision. Any sophs out there, I highly rec taking it before your Junior year!

My other piece of advice is to GET OFF SDN all the time. I found myself trolling on here and wasting so much time freaking out over other people's experiences and stuff and getting stressed. Yea, it's great to get insight and advice but after reading like 10, it just gets to be stressful. Each person is different and has their own techniques. Everything is so subjective so take it with a grain of salt. Don't get infected with the SDN bug! haha

Oh and one last thing!

I was SUCKING at parts of the Kaplan practice tests and was kicking myself for making such dumb mistakes. It was killing me because I knew I could do better. I mean, I would be getting 17/18s on sections! But the real thing is easier and you just get in the "zone." You can do it! Just believe in yourself. It's not impossible so don't get disheartened by practice tests -- main thing is the LEARN from your mistakes!

GOOD LUCK EVERYONE! 🙂 Hope this helped!

What's up with these members who have "frog" in their usernames getting high DAT scores?

This is sooooo true!!! My DAT is in 10 days and already freaking out after reading all those posts
By the way, do you think SND still work on RC, I can't stay calm if I can't find any key word...

Yeah S&D all the way! If I can't find a word and time is ticking, I just pick an "educated guess," MARK IT, and write down the word on my board so that while I'm looking for the next answer I can still passively be searching for that other key word. The second I find the answer to whatever I couldn't earlier, I go back and answer it (if that makes sense! haha)

Oh and I started studying a few hourish a day in June and then like 2-3 weeks before my DAT I went study crazy and studied literally from like 9AM-11pm every day.

Hahaha. I know right....

When do you take your DAT? I see you all over SDN and have been curious! I bet you're going to outscore us all!

I'm taking mine in a couple of weeks. A lot of pressure on me to perform... SDNers, classmates, parents, friends, teachers, dentists, everyone. I'm probably gonna be the big loser who underachieves lol.

I highly DOUBT that. Just stay off SDN for a while and study hardcore and you'll be fine! It's really not that bad. Pretty basic stuff actually so you'll be fine!
