313) which statement is false

1) the pH of the cytosol is more acidic than a lysosome... obviously not

2) lysosomes are found in both plant and animal cells... SHOULD BE INCORRECT?!?!? I HATE SEEING THINGS OVERLAP EACH OTHER, please explain how this is true. Because the answer was A, but I knew both were wrong. Is there an explanation ?

Recent evidence shows that plants do have lysosomes. I ran into same question and searched around.

I doubt they would put a question with a controversial answer in it.

Never under estimate the ADA and the DAT! Better to be safe than sorry!

Just my 2 cents

According to the recent evidence Plant Cells do have lysosomes. Older Biology books only stated that plant cells had Vacuoles. Then, new evidence started to emerge that some vacuoles contain Hydrolytic enzymes, which would make vacuoles capable of performing similar function as lysosomes.

However, recent evidence showed that plant cells do have vesicles with low pH and hydrolytic enzymes that are performing same function as animal cell lysosomes. The plant organelles that were studied fit every criteria to be classified as lysosomes.

Sorry to bump this old post, but does this mean that both the central vacuole and these plant lysosomes do the same thing as animal lysosomes? Also, do any other kingdoms have lysosomes or just animal and plantae? Some protists use phagocytosis, and all are eukaryotes.
