I want to get the DAT destroyer but Im not sure which edition. Is 2014 hugely different from the others or should I save money and get an older version?

save your money and use it to buy other additional test material. or spend it on getting math destroyer. everything else is just edits or a couple more practice problems.

Yes buy the Destroyer. Its the only book that is a must. Buy the 2014

Buy the 2012 or 2013. Save your money and get the Destroyer and Math Destroyer off someone in the Black Market forum or off eBay. I used the 2012 editions and took my DAT 3 months ago, scoring a 22 AA and TS

Each new DAT test has questions on concepts that have not been asked before. New books like Kaplan, Destroyer, Feralis etc..... come out with updated versions where they add new questions to help people prepare for the DAT.
So to answer your question, yes try to get the newest versions of books if you can.

I bought the most updated version in 2013, but if you want to save money and buy the older version I doubt you will be missing out on that much. I used chad's for my foundation and then destroyer for testing my knowledge.

Get the new version. It's worth the money. Taking the DAT now costs $385. Trying to save a few bucks on test material will cost you more down the road. Trust me I went through that road and it ain't pleasant.

I am not sure if you realize it guys. It costs 385$ to take the DAT. Retaking it will cost a lot more than $150 for the book. I believe that it is better to get the latest addition of any book that is out there. I just do not like to miss out. My friend offered me his 2013 for free, however I saw that new one came out. I decided to get the new one. Also, Feralis and Chad update their videos too, in order to keep up with changing tests.

Don't shorten yourself. Get new versions of whatever material you buy except cliff notes for bio: get the 3rd one not the 4th. The reason publishers upgrade their books is to keep up with changing trends in tests.
Good luck

Every new book comes with upgraded questions for each year and it is a lot cheaper to pay for the new version than to take classes without any practice materials...
As you mentioned,The Destroyer, it is wonderful solution to test and prepare yourself for the test. The current cost is much lower than taking DAT.
Plus there are also free resources but trust me, this is not the ONLY thing if you are serious about your future profession.

I took the dat this past august and used the 2010 version for both the separate science destroyer and math destroyer and it worked out just fine. The only difference I felt was when i looked for helped online using the question numbers, because newer versions had the questions with different problem numbers. Fortunately if I googled the question not the number and I could still pull up help from old posts related to the questions I had in my 2010 version.

If your on a budget I would recommend even getting the 2010. But for convenience go with something newer that has the same question numbers as every1 else but they are all pretty much the same.

Hey guys I just took my DAT a week ago and thought I'd offer a quick blurb. Regardless of the edition you use, I would surely recommend using the Destroyers. I used the 2013 versions because the 2014 version was not available yet when I bought them. But I found the 2013 version to be very comprehensive if you were looking to save a few bucks. Just like steiner2 said above, I would urge you to get the math destroyer since I felt it was very representative of my DAT QR section if you understood the underlying strategies for each type of question.

I know the destroyers get a lot of polarizing opinions on this website, but I think nearly everyone using their common sense would agree that studying ONLY the questions presented in the Destroyers (or any 1 resource for that matter) is not the golden ticket to a great DAT score. You need to use these books the way they were intended to be used. You need to understand the underlying reasons and relationships of why each answer is right/wrong. The purpose of the book, I felt, was to present the material in question format with the understanding that the user would have to think and learn critically why each answer choice is correct or incorrect. The focus of the books is still learning the material, not being able to answer every question if it were thrown in front of you for the 5th time.

I also used Chad's Videos as my first exposure/refresher for GC, Orgo, and QR, along with the Kaplan & Cliff's biology readings, before moving onto the destroyers. The best strategy for one person is not the best for all, but I figured it was fair to share what worked for me. This was my first time taking it, although I studied my nuts off to make sure I didn't have to take it again. Since it was my first and only time taking & studying for the DAT, I certainly am not trying to be a master of the DAT and the "correct" ways of studying for it. I simply just want to give tips/advice/feedback for anyone that might want it! 🙂 I'd be glad to share with anyone more details of what worked/didn't work for me.

I see where many of you guys are coming from, but the book is already covering wide range of subjects and problem types. I don't think few additional problems will make a significant difference in preparing for the test.
I used the 2013 version when 2014 was already out and I felt that it was very very helpful in mastering many types of problems.

But, if you have enough dough, you can go for the new one so you don't miss out of those new types of Q's they added.

I actually have a DAT destroyer 2013 to sell, but I'm not even sure that I want to. I still haven't even listed it just because I don't recommend anyone using it. Only reason I'd sell it is if someone really wants it and is reasonably close to me for shipping purposes.

It's wayy too complicated and excessive for the real DAT. Didn't help me on a single question except for the easier questions, all of which were pretty much covered on AP Barron's/Cliffs or Chads.
