Hello. Does the DAT destroyer 2009 really have an edge over the previous editions? Is it OK to get the 2007 version or is sticking to the most recent edition a better idea? Thanks for your replies and have a good weekend.

150 is a lot of money. I felt like Destroyer was repetitive anyway as though Romano was just trying to make the book thicker.
Stick with the old. Buy Princeton Hyperlearning or Examkrackers instead.

The owners seem to be very unclear about how someone could get updates if they bought the original book. It would be nice to have the newest version since it contains more questions but is it really worth the extra money? not sure. It would be nice if they told you that they would send out any new updates for free (except S&H) if you were the original buyer of the book...I think that would motivate more students to buy their books new.

Oh really? I'm trying to study for organic and gen chem. I saw really good reviews for Destroyer on this forum. I guess it's not worth the $150 huh.

its a good resource and i think its worth the 150. I also believe that updates are no longer available, so I would buy it a month before your test if you want the latest version.

I chose to use the most updated version of Destroyer and found it to be a good decision; the most recent version got me a TS of 23!

Those are hidden advertisements...you have to be around for a while before you can tell the difference.

I do believe that the destoyer has hidden advertisers (in a sense that students are encouraged to spread the word...especially here) but I do believe their product is actually good (haven't bought it yet). Is it a little on the expensive side? Yes. They are after all a business and have to look out for themselves and I respect that (in a certain way). So when it comes down to buying a new destroyer vs and older one then I would go w/ an older if it means saving you >$50. Now obviously it's in their best interest to tell you that you will be missing on important updates...but are you really? I highly doubt it, unless you consider 10-20 q's as "important updates."

If you go to college your are all too familiar w/ new editions coming out and how they are pretty much the same thing as old versions. If the textbooks didn't come out w/ new updates then the publishers would reach a peak in sales since students would sell their books to new students. It's the same case w/ the destroyer. I just wished there were companies out there that cared about the student more than their wallets...I honestly think that would give them better sales in the long run as reputation/word of mouth goes further than charging students a ridiculous amount (this obviously goes beyond the destroyer)

destroyer is worth your month 110%. by just reviewing the question and the answer and why the answer is right and why the wrong answer is wrong helps you alot. I studied mainly using the destroyer by understanding the wrong answers as well as the right answer and my AA was 21. i really think destroyer helped me alot. some of the questions were pretty similar to wat they had on the test. helped me to be alot more confident at the testing center because the real dat isn't as hard as the destroyer.

bottom line, the destroyer is a great book and i definitely recommend it. whats the difference in saying destroyer is a good book compared to saying kaplan is a good book? people are asking opinions. in my opinion, if you have the money buy it.

Destroyer is great and expensive. Dr Romano trys to update, or another word is change the printed date, so he can sell it more to student. the new version and the old one have 95% similarity. (I have both 2007 and 2008).
