Calculate the heat of combustion of ethane. The heat of formation values are -286 kj/mol for H20 liquid, -242 for H20 gas, -394 for CO2 gas and +52 for ethane.

Now the answer was -1412 kj but I got -1324 kj. There was a difference of a value of 88 and it was because of the liquid vs vapor heat of formation for water. In the back of the book the solution states the heat of formation for liquid water is 0 in a combustion because in combustion the product is water vapor not liquid water so I used the -242 kj/mol not the -286 kj/mol. But in the solutions although it states the liquid water is 0, it used the -286 kj/mol value which made the answer to be -1412. So I think I'm right and they made a slight error in the solution or am I missing something here?

Please helps thanks! @orgoman22
