Hey guys,

I'm studying for the QR section of the DAT... I grabbed the DAT Destroyer for this year(2017) and honestly, I don't know how to use the book most efficiently... Can someone chime in?

As in, do I go through and do all of the problems, write my thought processes down in a notebook, then go through and check my (inevitably incorrect) answers? Is there a better way to do this?

Before you dive head first into the DAT destroyer, you should do adequate content review. That could be Chad's videos, Khan Academy, youtube videos.. whatever you need to do. Next, I would look at the formulas destroyer gives you and make sure you really understand all of them. When you feel like you have a decent grasp on the material, head into destroyer. You will still get destroyed to an extent, but you will be getting questions correct, too.

Make sure you really review the questions you got wrong. Read explanations, review the concepts related to the question, etc. I always made a categorized list of questions I missed (i.e. 2 geometry, 4 algebra, 1 system of equations). This made it so I could see what specific topics I wasn't performing well with.

Another thing to do is to look at the incorrect answers in the math section and see what the incorrect answer tried to trick you with. "Ahh, they are trying to catch people who used the cylinder formula accidentally". "Oh, that answer is for people who forgot to multiply by 2 at the end of the problem".

Just my two cents.

Just took the DAT April 8th, and I recommend using DAT Bootcamp for 50% of material and GRE style questions for the remaining 50%

Destroyer is really hard so its fine if you arent doing well. What content review did you do before starting destroyer?

I would recommend learning all the material first and then going through destroyer twice to solidify your understanding. As for the qr, I used math destroyer and completed that twice. Chad's videos are great for qr and explain how to solve most problems you'll see on the test.
