I'm currently a sophomore in college and I plan on studying for the DATs during my christmas break during my junior year. (good time?)

Should I take the Kaplan classes or DAT destroyer or both?

I would purchase topscore, Dat destroyer, and Crack DAT as well as a kaplan book. I belive all of this will still be a comparable or lesser price than the course. The course simply does not allow for enough time to cover everything during the alotted time and you have to study a lot on your own anyway. So why not save money and have more materials! good luck

When you say DAT destroyer do you mean the supreme book with everything? Just math? Just orgo etc.

haha the supreme book.
I don't know I guess this is similar to SAT prep?
I didn't do well studying on my own for the SATs with the SAT prep books. But when I did SAT prep classes that gave me one on one preparation, it was extremely helpful. I might be more of a classes type of person.

I would def. buy the DAT destroyer. This is a great resource for the Organic chemistry section in particular. I would also purchase the kaplan blue book, but I wouldn't take the Kaplan course because its a lot of money and you have to complete assignments before every class. I feel that I learn more when I study at my own pace. When I took the Kaplan class, I also took an initial diagnostic test and a final diagnostic test and my scores were the same on the real DAT. So, I really didn't see any significant improvement from the course. Another great pointer, do not rely on Kaplan for the PAT section. Its a lot harder on the real thing. Hope this helps.

The kaplan course is 1000 bucks plus if you can buy the destroyer and the math destroyer with it you should be set if anything you can use the kaplan blue book which is what they give you during the course....but make sure you have a good understanding of basic the natural sciences when your doing destroyer. Also try to get ur hands on topscore to simulate the test conditions the computer. Overall i think the kaplan course is very expensive and you can buy the books you need for a lot cheaper. Best of luck

I took the less popular route. I am one of very few who took the Kaplan course and thought it was actually worth it. The online Kaplan material was the absolute best practice material I had. I didn't bother with Destroyer because I had a sense that it didn't match the scope of the real test. I ended up doing fine without it.
