DAT Destroyer Please help with your scores!

Hello everyone,

I am taking my DAT soon. I finished my review phase.
I have been doing DAT Destroyer for Bio, GenChem, and OrgoChem daily. 45 questions for Bio. 30 questions for Gen and 30 for OrgoChem
I constantly score about 23/45 on Bio, 16/30 on GenChem, and 22/30 on Orgo.
I admit DAT Destroyer is overkill. Please give me your advice, idea, and as well as your courage. Does anyone here score about mine and score well on the actual DAT?

How you score the first time through Destroyer isn't important - it's a learning tool, and making mistakes is a part of figuring out where your knowledge is lacking. What is important is that you are learning from the mistakes you are making and preventing them in the future. I would say your score the second time through the Destroyer is what matters, because at that point you would be expected to know how to handle each question having been exposed to the material before.

Like you I saved the Destroyer for after my review phase, but I should have started using it much earlier on during my review phase, and then again a second time after the review phase was completed.

Hi Shadowalkker.

I have worked with DAT students many years and I assure you the DAT Destroyer is NOT overkill if you want to score high on the DAT. It is designed in a way that covers anything that may come your way on the DAT. For example some DAT versions the GenChem section is heavy calculation based and other versions might be more conceptual, but no way you can know now what version you will get. There are MANY versions of the DAT, some are MUCH harder than others. No one has a crystal ball to know exactly what type of DAT experience a student will encounter. The DAT Destroyer is challenging but I assure you so is the DAT. Nothing was added to the Destroyer that is not fair game for the DAT. We are preparing 160 students for the DAT in our classroom setting in NYC, and we go over ALL the questions in the Destroyer, we leave nothing out.

It's best to discover your weakness now than on test day..

I think you need motivation. IMO you should join a study group or something. That would give you a healthy competition, not letting you have any fallacies about your efficiency. Finding a study group won't be all that difficult with websites like studypal.co

Its certainly not overkill.....look at any breakdown on here that is 20+, 99% of the people used destroyer. Its not supposed to predict your score, its a learning tool. No test can predict your score perfect.

I went through Destroyer twice. The first time, I scored about what you got. Then, I used other materials to refresh on the basics (Destroyer is not nearly as helpful if you're just blindly guessing). Make some flashcards for bio phyla, watch youtube videos about physiological systems, and maybe watch some videos about genchem and ochem. Also, start learning the Destroyer roadmaps. Once you have a better foundation, you'll do better in destroyer and kick butt on the real DAT. Again, I started like you. Took the DAT yesterday and got 22 Bio, 23 gchem, and 25 ochem. Good luck!!
