hello my fellow future dentists!

I have DAT exam on May 13th, and what is your opinion on DAT destroyer or Bootcamp as learning materials? Which is a better learning material? (Other than providing real-test environment) thank you so much!

Gangazi,

I just took my DAT yesterday, and while I cannot testify for DAT Destroyer, I can say that Bootcamp definitely helped prepare me. My PAT score jumped up significantly from my last practice test on Bootcamp because it tests at a much harder level of perceptual ability. On each of the science questions, it provided explanations (and videos for OC) that really fueled where I should focus my studying to cover my weak spots (like plant biology..ugh!).

In terms of content mastery, I have heard really good things about Destroyer from other Pre-Dents that I know. I ended up just getting a used Kaplan study book to brush up, and then I watched videos like Khan Academy and Crash Course to study the hard sciences.

Overall, if you feel like your PAT score is weak, I would recommend Bootcamp just for the PAT Generators. Beyond the generators, I just used the practice tests because they are set up almost identical to the real deal.

Good luck with your studying! Don't forget to relax and take a break!

I wouldn't say one is better than the other because DAT destroyer and DAT bootcamp are different study materials.

DAT bootcamp has great practice tests that simulate the real DAT. Most people utilize the bootcamp practice tests close to their DAT date to gauge what scores they might get. Bootcamp also has problem generators for the PAT section, which comes in handy for mastering the PAT subsections.

DAT destroyer is utilized as a learning tool. It has hundreds of questions for each of the science sections. The questions are in general way more difficult than what you will see on the real DAT. Many people tend to study the concepts tested in the book. In addition, DAT destroyer has a math section which is useful for mastering the QR concepts.

I would get both if I were you.

For the sciences, no question- Destroyer >>>>>>>>>> Bootcamp. There's just so many more questions in Destroyer. DAT Destroyer Bio 2015 had 563 questions. DAT Bootcamp Bio had 5 exams, 40 questions each = 200 total. Destroyer GC/OC also had more questions than Bootcamp.

For PAT/RC, Bootcamp >>>>>> Destroyer since Destroyer doesn't cover those subjects.

For QR, it's a toss-up. I only used Math Destroyer and did very well- I didn't touch BC at all for QR (not enough time). But I've heard QR BC is quite strong too.

My advice: Get both.
