Hey I have been reading threads religiously and I am planning on taking the DAT in February. I have been studying G-Chem for about 3 weeks and now I am trying out some problems from DAT destroyer to see what I know. I am finding that these problems are so HARD. It makes me feel like I am dumb and a lost puppy. Are these questions harder than the ones on the DAT? or are they about right??

destroyer problems tend to be more difficult. of course, this is good because it can only over-prepare you. i found the ochem "road maps" to be the most useful pages in the ochem section. if i was short on time, that would be the first thing i would try to memorize. hope this helps! 👍

I am also using DAT Destroyer and I also find the problems hard. I think the key for the DAT Destroyer is to look at the solutions. You can learn alot from the solutions because it explains everything. But i agree those problems are tricky

Get to know the destroyer cold. If you can do the difficult problems in the destroyer you can certainly do the "easier" problems of the DAT. However the DAT will always have 3-4 problems that are just as dfficult if not more than the destroyer so i dont think there is such a thing as being overprepared or knowing it to well.

I can't say anything about PAT & QR sections ... but as for the science sections, Destroyer is the bomb! Yes, it's "bit harder" than the actual test but that's what you need to push yourself. I thought this was a great tool.

How is everyone doing?

I just want to know if there is much difference between the 7th and 8th edition of the DAT destroyer, does anyone know?

I hope you know that starting feb. 7th the DAT won't be offered. the blackout dates are on their site...i know that in feb it's from 2/7 to 2/28.

The destroyer is a bit hard, just read through it carefully, and don't skim!! Know the stuff on the destroyer very well, especially for the ochem section.

good luck!

Thanks for letting us know. I for one sure didn't realize there were blackout dates.

Not always. I have found the destroyer gen chem to be difficult as people as stated, but not an actual representation of gen chem on the DAT. It's one thing to make the section harder and another to make it unrelated to the exam you are trying to study for.

IMO its not so much the questions that are dissimilar but the answer choices that Destroyer has that makes it "hard." Thats not to say a majority of these question don't really test your knowledge of OC...because it really does

Kaplan & Destroyer for gen chem and O chem, Cliffs, destroyer, Schaum ( I think I spelled the word wrong), Kaplan for Bio, Crack that DAT math for QR, and I dont know about PAT cause I never studied PAT while preparing for the DAT.

Thats silly, the questions are exactly what you need to know and at times just asked in a more difficult fashion. To think that the questions in the destroyer are irrelevant is stupid. There is a reason why those questions are in the destroyer, its not just for kicks.
