Hey guys I am just happy that this exam is over……. I hope my information that I have gained over this experience can help you guys out.

Grade Breakdown:

PA: 21…… Believe it or not I found a couple OBVIOUS mistakes in this sections. It definitely pissed me off 😡 because I dwelled on them a little longer than needed. Word of advice DO NOT dwell on any question….Mark it, Move on and Come back.
QR: 19…. I was certainly surprised 😱 to see this score because I thought I did worse. There is absolute no time for this section. Practice time management.
RC: 21….. Just hope you get passages that will give you the ability to search and destroy. I had one passage that was all tone questions, so beware…
Bio: 19….🙁 I really thought I would do better, but there were several really random questions. Plus I think I just made some careless mistakes because it was my first section and I was little bit nervous.
Chem: 21... I was most scared for this section while preparing for the exam.
Orgo: 23…. 🙂 This is my favorite subject from all these subjects. I thought I would do a little bit better, but like before there must have been some careless mistakes that I did.

DAT Breakdown:

I started my test on a high note going through bio questions which weren’t that bad, but all of a sudden my computer froze. In panic I called over the proctor and she restarted my computer. However, this inconvenience occurred three times to me 🙂wtf🙂. It really made me uncomfortable as well as throw me off the test taking grove. Additionally, I found a couple mistakes through out the test (which were obvious mistakes). The proctor recorded all of these problems, but I don’t think it will do any thing for me.

Any ways, on to the actual DAT breakdown…..

PAT: I used three programs for this- Achiever, Top Score, and Crack dat Pat. I think Crack dat Pat was the most accurate, but I would recommend going over all the pat sections in each program because each program has their advantages.

QR: This is section wasn’t as bad as people make it out to seem, but there is absolutely no time given for this section and this is the last section of the exam (you are tired and want to end this test already). In this section you have to be smart, in the sense that you should know what questions to skip. Going through this section on the actual exam the questions that I knew how to do, but saw that it would take several minutes to answer, I marked and went back. If I had some extra time I would have gotten at least another 5 questions correct without guessing. To study for this part I used Achiever, Top Score, Destroyer and Kaplan Blue Book (for the basics). Achiever and Top Score are good for time management.

RC: Well what can I say practice, practice, practice…. What I mean is that you should practice time management for this section. Just hope you get passages that will allow you to use the search and destroy method. On my exam I was able to use that method for the most part of two passages, but on the third passages it was all tone questions which requires a lot of time and energy to answer each question. I used Top Score and Achiever for the time management. I also purchased the Exam Krackers MCAT passages so I can get used to the tone questions (if you have time I would definitely recommend you practice this).

Bio: Well for this section I started of reading AP Bio Cliffs. Then I progressed to the Destroyer. In regards to the destroyer it is on the money so I recommend you know and understand the questions. Don’t get discouraged if it seems hard because it is supposed to be hard/ challenging. Also, while using the destroyer I had my college bio text book and the Cliffs AP Bio book open as references.

Chem: For this section on my exam I had a really good mixture of calculating problems and theory problems. To study I used the Kaplan Blue Book to grasp and refresh the basics of chemistry ( which will give you a nice foundation). Then I went on to the Destroyer which challenged me and helped me excel. These two books compliment each other very well and I would highly recommend using this method of preparation. Either book is not enough… you need both.

Orgo: This is my section. What I mean is that this section is my favorite to study from all the other ones. I had a pretty good foundation of this subject due to the accelerated Organic Chemistry in my school. I used the destroyer mainly to review all the topics that are needed to know for the exam and to also challenge myself. When practicing the destroyer questions its not good enough to just see what the correct answer is, but also you should understand why from the solutions in the back of the book. Road maps are very useful to go over. Especially, if it is a couple of days prior to the exam.

In general….I studied for this exam the whole winter break about three and a half weeks. I DID NOT LEAVE MY ROOM ( no spending time with my girl friend, no basketball team games, no life!!!). The closest I got to outdoors was opening a window in my room. I would recommend using all the books and material that I have used because it was very helpful for me. Additionally, what I also recommend is that either if it’s the Kaplan Blue Book or the Destroyer or Top Score or any other form of practice questions you do, go over every wrong answer that you get (trust me you will pick up your score big time). It is not good enough just to see what the correct answer is * WARNING*

Lastly, BE CALM 😎. It sounds obvious but the reality is you can freak yourself out. Just relax during the exam and do the best you can… The worst thing you can do is let your nerves get the best of you. Yes!, it is a big test, but you have been preparing for this exam for a while and the beauty is you can retake it if worst comes to worst. To conclude this, I would like to say that all this studying and pushing my self paid off.

Guys I am open for question. Feel free to ask me what ever you want!!

Good luck to future test takers……..👍 👍

another success story, very nice. congratulations on those solid scores. now sit back, relax, and chilll. where are you looking to apply?

I am looking to apply mainly to NYU. I am from the NEW York region and I do want to stay local. Additionally, NYU is a greta school with top of the line labs and teachers. Besides for the price being a little bit high, it's a great school. I also will apply to a few other schools.

Where are you applying to??
