The results of a week long cram session... I am a junior and was going to take it at the end of august and did a decent amount of prep from the kaplan online course in august but didn't feel ready and postponed it... However, I was too busy this semester and didn't touch my kaplan materials again until last friday (I skipped all my classes this week and spent all my time since friday reviewing).
PAT 17
QR 20
RC 25
Bio 19
GC 19
OC 20
TS 19
AA 21
Mini-Breakdown:
Bio: Thought this was pretty tough there was a bunch that I wasn't sure about... happy with the 19
GC: Easier than kaplan not many calculations at all, thought I did better
OC: Some oddballs but not too tough overall
PAT: I think I looked at the clock too much when I was narrowing down answers and felt I had to hurry... I was averging 18/19 on kaplan but the angles here were much tougher... If I had found this forum earlier I wouldave gotten CDP maybe it wouldave helped. Hole punching I usually ace in kaplan but the stupid prometric markers had dried out so I couldn't use them to make a diagram of the holes as I usually do.
RC: Didn't do any prep for this I've always done real well in reading on standardized tests... Just a naturally fast reader I guess, I think it's from spending too much time reading video game forums as a kid. Lots of tone questions.
QR: Easy questions overall I thought... I misread the clock somewhere in the middle of the section and thought I was way ahead of pace so I started double checking my answers and taking my time as I went.. only to realize I wasn't ahead of pace at all about 10 questions later. Was in a time crunch at the end... I shouldave done better.
Now, I need to decide whether to retake (I am studying abroad next semester so probably would do it late june). I am a junior right now and calculated I will probably have a 3.77 sci & 3.85 ovr gpa at the time I apply. I know that I can get in somewhere with that DAT and gpa but my in-state school is Minnesota and it would save me a lot of money to go there. However, the profile of their incoming 2009-2010 class worries me (http://www.dentistry.umn.edu/progra...ram/admissions_information/home.html#required)
19.69 AA avg.
20.72 PAT avg.
3.64/3.68 sci/ovr gpa avg.
That PAT average leads me to believe they accept very few people with a sub 19 PAT... Do I have a shot at getting in since my other stats are higher than average or is the PAT just that important at Minnesota? Should I retake and, if so, do all the PAT books/programs really help significantly imporve your score?
