I'm proud of my scores 🙂

PAT: 24 (98.1)
QR: 22 (97.9)
RC: 25 (97.0)
Bio: 20 (88.0)
GC: 24 (97.7)
OC: 24 (95.7)
TS: 22 (95.6)
AA: 23 (98.7)

pat: crack dat pat. very good practice. on the real test, keyholes were harder (i felt crack dat pat keyhole's were way too straightforward and simple). a lot of the keyhole questions were about shapes/sizes/proportions. angles were WAY easier on the DAT. TFE, cube counting and hole punching were all similar to CDP. I felt pattern folding was slightly harder on the DAT.

qr: math destroyer. i did the first 10 problem sets. the questions were pretty straight forward. i didn't have time to finish 2 problems. one of them was a dilution/molarity problem just like on cdm.

rc: i just used the one from 2007 sample test. on the DAT, the rc was literally a joke. i think i got lucky on the passages. i just read the passages and took down notes on each paragraph. 2 of my passages were easy reading, so this was

bio: i used cliffs, which is good enough. however the questions on the test made me go WTF. they were so random, i haven't seen most of them before. just make good educated guesses, because chances are, other people also don't know the answers.

for chemistry, i just used chad's videos and did dat destroyer problem sets (just like everyone else). that's literally all you need. i honestly think you could get a 20+ just by using chad's videos.

I think I have a good shot at getting into dental school. I have 3.48 gpa, and my science gpa is a little higher. However, I'm taking a class at a community college JUST to get my second letter.

Also, my extracurriculars are pretty bad. I worked as a dental assistant for a summer, interned at a pharmaceutical company in china for a summer, and am working at tech support for routers. I also went to mexico for a weekend with my sister's medical school. However, none of these are really long term, and i don't have like the "volunteered for 2 years at habitat for humanity" and stuff like that. No real leadership positions. I've done research for 2 months in ecology (which was fun). I'm going to spend the next 6 or so months until applications start to really get my extracurricular going

I did some good volunteer work in high school that i'm going to put down in my apps. Even though they were a long time ago, i think it's worth it (such as going to Thailand and Mexico with my church).

Anyways, hopefully my breakdown helped some of you guys. I had the BIGGEST grin on my face while driving home that day.

Amazing scores! As long as you have a decent gpa and don't have the personality of a pickle when you get your interviews, you are in for sure. APPLY EARLY!

What schools are you applying? do you really think doing research helps the admissions process?

Great job! those are amazing scores. How long did you study for?

i studied for about 2-3 months. i didn't study hardcore 8 hours a day though. i probably did an hour or two a day, and then 4-6 hours a few times a week. i have a part time job so it was perfect for me.

i'm not really sure about what schools i'm going to apply too. i just thought i would apply to every california school and then every out of state friendly schools (which is a lot of schools and a lot of money). if anyone has gone through apps and want to give some advice, that would be awesome.

i think doing research helps, it definitely does not hurt. i doubt it's necessary as a lot of people on these forums got accepted without doing research. imo, it helps because it shows committment and effort, similar to nonresarch related extracurricular activities.

don't do research if you would only do it because it's something to put on your application. i did research for evolutionary biology/ecology so i got to be out in the field/marsh a lot and i had a great time. i would not have done the standard lab work (pipetting etc).

You are probably right regarding doing research. However, I knew people that did wet lab work in research on Ceramics. That is directly related to dentistry. That I should give them a boost I think.

Speaking of schools. Are California schools cheaper and less friendly or have I misunderstood?
