PAT 20
Bio 18
GC 20
OC 20
TS 19
RC 22
QR 19
AA 20

First time scores (09/11/09) were

PAT 17
Bio 16
GC 19
OC 19
TS 18
RC 22
QR 17
AA 19

Breakdown:
Bio----used Barron's and Destroyer, took notes from absolutely everything, it was ridiculously random, and I honestly do not think that the extra studying helped improve my score, it just came with a little luck

GC---Chad's video and Destroyer

OC---"" ""

QR---i'm just generally good at math, no real studying besides destroyer

RC---no preparation at all

PAT---Kaplan practice tests

Any thoughts/opinions? Plan on applying this next cycle 2011 to schools in the midwest (Ohio State, Detroit Mercy, Case, Indiana, Kentucky, Tenessee, UNC, Michigan, Loiusville, Pitt, West Virginia, Temple)

What are my chances with 3.67 GPA 3.3 science GPA and all the EC/volunteer hours taken care of?

19TS 20AA is a competitive score, congrats

Scores and DAT look good. Question, you have TN, UNC, OSU and WV on there. They are all public and extremely preferential to in-state applicants. So basically, not out of state friendly. What's your residency?

I am an Ohio resident, so I guess that sits well with OSU. The thing is, according to this year's applicants, OSU has become very difficult to get in to, from what I have seen, in state or out of state

Oh ok. Well OSU is a good choice then, regardless of what they say this years statistics are. I will go ahead and warn you about the other schools. UNC is one of the top schools in the nation and only seats roughly 16 OOS. With your statistics, your chances of receiving an interview are very slim. I would replace them with an NYU, Tufts, Marquette... Tennessee shows low statistics, but they rarely even interview OOS students who are not a bordering state. Half their OOS seats are dedicated to Arkansas students anyways. I only got an interview there because I went to Rhodes, a school in Memphis that sits very well with the University. They take a couple kids from Rhodes every year. Applicants always wonder why they didn't even receive an interview from TN. I don't know the exact reason, but I wouldn't expect too much from them. I don't know too much about WV, except they take very little OOSers, especially if you don't have state ties. I mean who wants to practice or live in WV if you are not from there or don't have family there?? They realize this as well. The rest of the schoosl you have listed you have a good shot at. I am just giving you honest advice. If I wasn't from NC and didn't go to college in TN, I would not have applied to either school b/c my chances would have been so slim.

So do you feel that going over the Barron's AP Bio and Destroyer was not adequate prep? I was planning on using the same sources as you for biology. And question for those that have used both is there a big difference between Barron's Bio and Cliff's Bio? If so, which is a better resource in your opinion?

Hey, thanks for the advice FutureDent---I already have Marquette on my list as well, and I might consider dropping Tennessee and UNC off the list as well, considering how in state friendly they are.

As for you Texas, I would say that barron's and destroyer, or even barron's alone, is good enough for bio, even though my score did not show it. The bio section is just a complete memorization of specific facts that is either hit or miss.

SB1111, could you tell us how the reading comprehension was? What were the topics of the passages, without telling us too much detail.
