Ok so I took it and I'm exhausted.

Overall they went okay and I thought they were very similar to topscore. I'm thinking about retaking but I dunno. To those who are freaking out (like I was a few days ago)- don't stress too much by what you read on SDN. Just make sure you know that kaplan blue book in and out. Go over topscore and achiever (although achiever is MUCH MUCH harder but its good practice) and get used to pacing yourself. If you score 18 or more on topscore's tests you should be ready. Destroyer was really good practice too.

Here are my scores-

PAT- 16
QR - 16
RC- 18
Bio- 20
GChem- 19
Ochem- 22
TS- 20
Average- 19

What do u guys think? Retake or not? My gpa is 3.4. I could have done better in Math, I was so focused on sciences that I completely neglected math.

Nice Job!!
You should get a number of interviews assuming you apply to the right schools.
Take it easy and best to you,
dan

Im sorry but with a 3.4 GPA and two low scores i would retake. You may get tyhough you never know. Might as well apply to schools and see what happens but at the same time rescedule another DAT. Thats my opinon.

his scores resemble averages of incoming students for fall '08.
that's not to say he wouldnt have an easier shot with a higher GPA.

Rooney - how's ur science GPA?

I agree with dan.

Most schools have disregarded QR recently because of the drop in scores and some schools (like here in TX) have told me they don't care much about PAT. IMO, you should be ok if you apply to schools that weigh the sciences heavily AND apply broadly.

Congrats on being done.

My science GPA is 3.4 and my overall is 3.5....its a close call because I know i've got average stats.. (by the way, thanks dantheman for the kind words last night before my DAT day!)

I think if I retook, I could definately improve on QR (didn't spend much time studying this section) and probably on PAT (kaplan definately did not prepare me). But I was pleased with my science scores, not sure if I will be able to replicate/improve those...but I'll be applyin to all schools in texas and a few out of state..i'm hopeful..

urghh studying for the DAT was such a pain!!

Congrats on your scores. If you can remember, what type of questions did you see by the QR section? Anything we should focus on while studying for the Bio, Chem, and Orgo? Any information will be a great help. Thanks!!!

you say to know the blue book in and out...so it's enough to UNDERSTAND the blue book not just memorize it?

Lets see..

QR- I wish I had paid more attention to this, I had quite a few questions regarding permutatons/combinations/probability which I just guessed on. Some of the rate problems I had no clue on. I just did all the algebra ones first cause they were easy free bees (I got about 5-10). This section had pretty much a fair share of everything. OMG my dry erase markers dried up on me here..SO annoying..when u go the test center, grab atleast 4 markers.

Bio- most were straight up know it or not. I think you will prolly have different tests so I can't say exactly what to focus on. My advice would be go through practice tests/subject tests/destroyer and focus on areas that you don't know well! My test had lots of questions on immune system and vascular/heart. After reading ppl's SDN posts, I was freaking out and expecting alot of hard application/lab techniques..prolly had 3-5 of these..but majority of questions weren't that bad at all.

Gchem- tons of concepts, a few calculations. know kaplan blue book in and out for this section

Ochem- Destroyer really helped. Most of the questions were reactions so know kaplan and the destroyer roadmaps. I had a few on NMR, IR, lab techniques that I wish I had studied more.

PAT- its all about practice. Wish I had more practice.

This forum really helped me! thanks everyone for the comments and help!

btw scuzfly- yeah u certainly have to understand the concepts. but for some material, to really understand it, you gotta memorize it..i.e ochem rxns, spectroscopy peaks, bio classification etc..)

Hey, aa of 19 and you did well on the sciences. Hows your extracurriculars?

What were your practice scores by any chance, and also which test did you felt resembled the dat most accurately? Please let me know I'm quite nervous on whether or not to take this test soon. If you could break down how you did on each section for topscore and achiever that would help me alot. Thanks for your help.

I know Baylor told me they don't look at the PAT at all. It's all about your AA/TS. 👍
