Edit (new info): Ok here is the quick analysis of the test (I will finish it up after I get back from the bar tonight..haha 😀)
For bio, I used Cliff's AP and Destroyer. I read every chapter in Cliff at least 5 times. For my weak areas, which are taxonomy and embryology, I read the chapters 10 times plus taking notes. While studying, I also used google to look up figures and pictures to help me understand the materials better. I did destroyer 3 times. Understand and memorize all the answers in the back. Also, I'm biochem major, so my advance classes helped me understand the materials as well.
For gen chem, it was my stronger section naturally. I have been a TA for the past three years. I reviewed the basic concepts with Princeton review physical sciences and Kaplan blue book, plus I did the questions in destroyer 3 times.
For ochem, I reviewed the concepts with the Kaplan blue book, did destroyer 3 times, and knew all the road maps inside and out.
Reading, I think I just got lucky because most of the times on the practice tests I can't even score above 20...haha
. My method is reading all the questions first, then read the passage, then answer the questions. It is very time consuming though, because at the end I only had 20 seconds left.
PAT: used crack dat pat, it was really good. Often on those, I scored between 21 to 24, but I think I got nervous today and rushed through the questions. After I finished the whole section, I still had 15 minutes left, so I think I made a lot of careless mistakes
; should've calmed down a little bit.
QR: got absolutely destroyed today
. Often scored between 20 and 24 on practice tests, but the real thing was way harder than any practice tests I've done. Destroyer gives you a good idea on question types, but the calculations were much simpler in destroyer. I knew how to do all the problems, but did not have enough time to carry out all the calculations so I ended up guessing on a lot of them. Time management is the key, and practice as much as possible.
By the way, the marker, eraser and boards are very annoying. It took forever to erase them and the marker got all over my hand. Make sure you practice writing with a marker before you go in.
I'm just wondering if my PAT and my QR scores will affect me to get into schools such as Harvard, Columbia, UCLA, and NYU? My GPA is 3.9, and I"m a biochemistry major at The Ohio State with residency in Ohio. I had one paper published, and being a T.A. for chemistry for 3 years. Thanks a lot!!
