So i just took my DAT and didnt do as well as i thought i would. Heres my breakdown...

BIO: 17 (I DONT KNOW HOW TO IMPROVE THIS)?????
GCHEM: 16 🙂confused: my most consistent scores on practice tests- 19 and 20s )
OCHEM: 20
READING: 18
QR: 21
PAT:21
TS: 18
AA:18 (ALMOST A 19)..LITERALLY 1 PT AWAY 👎

I have a 3.6 science and probably 3.5 overall. I took all my sciences at community college the first two years before transferring to UCLA. I have shadowing hours and pretty good extracurriculars.

Should I RETAKE?
Do i have any chance with these scores to get into any schools?

Chemistry can blind side you. I recommend a retake just to get that Chem section up.

I share your feelings on biology, i read all of kaplan, cliffs and examkrackers mcat bio and glanced briefly at schaums and wow still found it hard

why was g chem so hard? Were the questions mostly super hard conceptual ones?...I have my dat in a week so any tips on g chem wud be appreciated. thanks

Chance you do have. Don't forget, you do have a nice set of GPAs, thats always a huge attention grabber.

I think you should apply this June (next week). Don't put down on your application that your going to retake. But after you apply, sit down and re-study till end of July. This time around, I am going to suggest you use DAT destroyer, cliff's ap Biology, and topscore at the end.... With the resourses I am recommending, I think you can break the 19AA / 19TS +

Good luck to ya

Yea i am going to apply next week...What exactly am i suppose to have before i apply. I have my letters of recommendation waiting at UCLA for me and i am a transfer student so do i have to get my transcripts from the school(s) i attended? When do applications start to open up so we can look at the question for our personal statement? Do schools look at your overall AA or do they see every individual score, because a couple of my scores are pretty high compared to the average but the bio and gchem are the only two below averages ones.

They see all scores. You should have your personal statement done by the time the cycle opens. There is no "question" it is basically why you chose to be a dentist and any interesting things you think you should include that are not mentioned anywhere else in your application.

Where and When do i get the transcript request forms to send to all the community colleges that i attended?

any info on the gen chem portion?...were there a lot of hard concept qs?

General Chem: Destroyer, Kaplan blue book and Chads videos
i didnt feel like this section was hard i actually think i over studied for this section and just didn't absorb the basic ideas which hurt me a lot.
Ochem: Destroyer, Kaplan and Chads Videos and notes
Bio: Cliffs AP bio, Kaplan Blue book and Allan's notes
Math: math destroyer and general knowledge from high school
PAT: Crack PAT
Reading: just use a method that helps you...I suggest skimming through it once for 5 minutes and take random notes of words that stood out to you and just search and destroy
