So I am already back at work after taking my DAT this morning. I'm not really sure what to thing of my DAT, mainly bc of QR section. What do you all think

Section/Standard Score/Percentile
PA/18/61
QR/13/15 .... I find that I scored this hilarious. I dont know if I will ever be good at math
RC/18/44 ..... Computer froze at the 5 minute warning, it will be noted in my report.. I still had 7 questions left..
Bio/18/67
GC/20/86
Ochem/26/98
TS/20/86
AA/19/77

So there it is. Im happy with my score minus the one HUGE HUGE red flag.. QR.. In the hours and hours I have spent following the score of other on SDN I cannot recall anyone getting a 13, in any section. Its brutal, but I don't want to worry about it too much right now.. Just let me know if you think this score is a gonna be the difference maker..

STATS
GPA=3.7
sGPA=3.65
Too many extracurriculars
100 + hrs dental shadowing/40 hrs. of it on a dental mission trip in Honduras
Undergrad researcher for 2 years (molecular nueropharmocology) & will be published by matriculation.
more...

Also, what usually happens when the computer freezes? Ya its fine and dandy that it is written up in a report, but thats it?? I called some lady w/ ADA, I have to write my own report. She couldn't tell me what usually happens and said that every situation is "unique"

Anyway let me know what you think and be honest with me, brutally if need be..

If you want a complete breakdown, let me know and I will post it as soon as I can.

For now I am going to go to The Hangover, bc I guess that is the movie everyone is quoting these days..

Thanks

Congrat on finishing the exam buddy and the Hangover is hilarious, im goin to watch it again for the 2nd time this weekend, enjoy.

Everyone's scoring poorly on QR these days. You got a 19/20/18 with an above average GPA, so I think you are good to go.

Good job overall! How were you scoring on practice tests in QR? Don't beat yourself up about QR, lots of people get low scores in it. Not worth worrying over. You might have to retake for cutoff schools, call the schools on your list and ask.

With such a high GPA and good scores on your other sections, it would be a shame if a 13 in QR would prevent you from getting interviews. I think adcoms will realize this was some sort of fluke and you may get asked about it at interviews. Just be truthful and say what went wrong, whether it be a bad approach to the questions or just not knowing how to work them. Just call the schools up and see what they think.

Dont wanna ruin your party but just letting you know last year when i took mine i also got a 13 in math and everything else above 20 and didnt get a single interview with a 3.4 gpa so you might wanna think about that or perhaps call the school up and see whats up.

I have to agree with this poster. Although it's true that most schools don't care too much about QR, but anything below 17 in any section of the DAT is considered a red flag. Why?
Most schools have cutoffs around 17-18, which means if you score below the cutoff point in any one section your chances will be greatly reduced. I tell you this, because I too didn't do very well on the QR section (17). However, I called the schools I'm applying to and they told me since I'm not below 17 I shouldn't worry about it too much. In fact, UCLA specifically told me that if my score was below 17 they would have suggested a retake.
You're other schools are great! So, I can't really tell you whether or not you should retake. Perhaps, you should do what I did; call the schools and discuss the situation with the.

Thanks everyone for your input.

So pretty sure the ADA is going to end up withholding my scores bc my computer froze during the RC section, and I am going through the whole appeals process right now. It looks like at the least I will get to retake my test (THE WHOLE THING), and prior to the 90 day waiting period. So it will be as if I didn't even take the test. I think this is a good thing.

Damn appeals, they have me running around like crazy and filling out paperwork.

If anyone is interested, the reasons for appeals are outline at:

If I have some more downtime at work, I will get my breakdown goin.
