Hang in there guys, the hard work pays off. A month of hybernating and studying 6 hrs a day payed off.

PA 23 96.2%
QR 17😡 76.6%
RC 19😳 67.6%
BIO 24 99.6%
GC 24 98.0%
OC 30 100.0%
TS 25 99.9%
AA 23 99.7%

I was drained by the time I reached the RC and QR. The jacka@# next to me had a hacking cough and I think the H1N1 virus (came in right about the time the RC started). A total distraction when trying to read stuff straight out of scientific journals. The QR was insane even though I was getting 20-21 on Crack math.

Best of luck guys! I hope these mscores help me have a chance. Undergrad GPA - 2.365

Have taken postbac pre-reqs (were older than 8 years old) and gotten 4.0 for all the pre-reqs.

Hope I got a shot of getting in to UNC? Time will tell!

Best of Luck and hang in there the hard work pays off!

I think you should be good for UNC. Ive heard that they really emphasize the DAT more than the gpa and ec's. Btw, how did you study for the sciences and reading? Im banking on ECU opening up next year.!

wow great job! How did you study for each section, particularly the OC section. Amazing job on that! Those scores are extremely competitive even with the low QR score. Congrats!

Biology - Biol 101 textbook and Kaplan BB - Read Kaplan BB, then went through the list of subjects for the BIO section from the ADA website (has breakdown of topics covered for each section BIO, GC, OC). Used intro biol textbook to fill in gaps. Most topics covered as indept as intro biology textbook (had 2-3 questions that u must be a biol major to answer). Most intro biology classes don't cover the entire textbook, so I went back to the sections my teacher skipped (At least read bold print words - to have seen it once).

Organic - Had great teacher at UNC - Went through textbook and learned mechanisms for each reaction. It is possible to memorize each reaction, but u are much better off learning the principles - then u can predict reactions u may not have seen. I suggest going through reactions at end of chapters and think about the mechnism. All of the reactions on the test were straight forward, but with reactions, a lot of times, there are two choices were a rxn will take place or a group will attack. Knowing the mechanisms and principles helps (ex: most acidic hydrogens, electronegativities (who wants electrons), shifting lone pair electrons (resonance - stable products most likely to be formed), etc.) Went through OC destroyer the week before the exam - had it down cold.

Gen Chem - Kaplan BB for overall themes, destroyer for problems, then used textbook for find more problems on weak areas.

QR - Used Crack DAT Math... was getting 20-21 on practice tests.. but the real thing... I though much harder. I knew how to do all of the problems... just not quickly enough. No time to think about it ... need to just be able to see problem and write equation to solve imediately. First couple of problems on this section were harder, longer problems... should have guessed (skipped) then come back if have time .... got behind quickly... had to guess on the last couple of problems. The hardest part for me was to skip problems I did not immediately SEE the equation .. if you don't know the exact approach or equation to solve a problem ... pick an answer, mark it, and come back if you have time - bad to waste time and still might get it wrong ... just take your medicine ... guess ... and come back - some following problems may be easier.

Destroyer is not a study guide ... but it does a good job of covering all areas and pointing out misconceptions or weaknesses. If can ace destoyer ... you will do good.

amazing scores! hopefully that will make up for you gpa years ago 🙂

i would apply to more than just UNC to be sure you get in somewhere
