Took the DAT on 6/22.

PA 22 93.8%
QR 17 76.6% 😕
RC 20 78.5%
Bio 20 91.8%
GC 22 95.2%
OC 23 97.1%
TS 21 96.2%
AA 20 93.4%

I am disappointed with my QR. If only I could do a little better on that, it would have helped my AA score a lot I think.

I studied for about 6 weeks, 3 hours a day for about 4 weeks. But spent about 6 hours a day in the last 2 weeks.

My resources were CDP, Kaplan white books, Cliff's Bio, Barron's Bio, Destroyer and Topscore.

PA CDP definitely was a must, even if I hated their hole punch and cube counting. I bought the 3 tests version and kept doing them over and over. After a while, I got pretty good at it and scored well when I took the Topscore and Kaplan's test as well as the ADA sample DAT.
So my thought on this section is similar to others'...practice...practice...practice.

QR Timing was a problem for me. I knew how to do most of the problems, but just was not quick enough. I had about 5 problems left when the timer was @ 30 seconds. So ended up guessing on the last 5. If I had to do it over, I would go through the questions and skip over the word problems first and solve for the easy numerical ones. Then go back and solve the world problems...arghh...

RC Spent virtually no time in preparing for this except through practice exams. I just used search and destroy. As some have said before, search and destroy will probably get you around 19-20, if that's what you are going for. When I did the TS test, 20-21 were the scores that I got for RC. So, I think TS is in line with the real thing. BUT be aware though that in the real DAT, the answer choices often are not written to match word for word as those in the paragraphs. So pay a little closer attention when reading the answer choices. Topscore's RC, the answer choices are a little skewed towards the search/destroy method.

Bio I used mainly Cliff's Bio. I think Kaplan's Bio is too general. I read Cliff's twice and did the questions twice including the final exams in the back. I also bought Barron's Bio to do the questions. I didn't read it though. I only did half of the Destroyer's Bio. I felt it didn't help much.

GC I did Kaplan's first and then Destroyer. The real DAT didn't have as many calculation ones. But generally the Destroyer's GC problems were in line with the real thing (Destroyer maybe a little harder).

OC Read Kaplan's. Then did Destroyer...on the ones that I got wrong, I would use my OC text book to find out why I got it wrong and why the answer was what it was. The real DAT's Ogo is for sure easier than Destroyer, which has too many exception types of rxs. But if you know Destroyer, u will ace this section for sure. And don't worry if you miss the Destroyer's tough problems. Focus on the road maps, very helpful.

I am hoping that my QR is not going to damage my chances very much. My GPA is not that high 3.3ish. I am hoping to get into any school...😉

Any thoughts on where I should apply?

nice scores. as to just trying to get into dental school, the rule of thumb is, the more expensive the school, the easier it is to get into. shoot for the most expensive ones, NYU, BU, USC, Tufts, etc.

I also think your scores may be good enough to get into many other schools, so you should apply to all the ones you would like to go to, with the most competitive ones like harvard and upenn being excluded.
