i took my DAT today! it feels good to be done 🙂 studied about 5 weeks. first time!

PA: 23
QR: 29
RC: 21
Bio 22
GC: 21
OC: 19 (dang it, i was scoring 22 on topscore 🙁

TS: 20
AA: 22

PA: get crack dat pat!!!!
QR: woa. don't know what happened here. mostly topscore/achiever. get them!!
RC: search and destroy worked for me 🙂
Bio: a lot of random questions. I read AP cliff once (good source but really dense), TPR hyperlearning bio, destroyer, and kaplan blue book.
gchem: destroyer 🙂 did some acid/base questions from Cliff AP chem
ochem: destroyer. there were a lot of concept questions on the real DAT. make sure you know how things work, instead of memorizing. I was scoring around 22 on topscore though. lol

undergrad gpa 3.4 at UC Berkeley
california residence 🙂 no chance for ucla or ucsf, huh 🙁 *sigh*

I took mine yesterday and I bombed the QR section. You destroyed QR! What did you use to study for QR if you don't mind me asking.. oh nevermind.. so just achiever and topscore?

can u explain what concepts mean by chemistry??? and how did u study math wow!!!, do u consider ur self good at math anyways??

I didn't have time to study for QR bc i was cramming for bio and other sciences :/ but achiever and topscore QR sections were really helpful!!

thanks everyone!! *i was gonna use the quote thingy, but it takes wayyy too much time lol*

umm speaking of QR... if you're able to do calculations quickly, i think you'll be in good shape 🙂
oh, and make sure to mark all the complicated calculation problems and go back if you have time in the end. i made couple careless mistakes and was really glad that i marked them!!
and know your trig!! try memorizing all the formulas 🙂

and for chem, there weren't that many calculation problems... (calculating Keq, Ksp, [H+], etc.) i guess that's what i meant by 'concept' questions lol

Congratulations!!! I wish your scores were mine 🙂 I am taking DAT July 7th and I envy those who are done. Awesome scores once again and god luck with school applications.

hm just get used to doing computation really FAST!! one factor limiting ppl from getting a good score on QR is the time limit, i think :/ (i often ran out of time too!!). oh, and try skipping questions that might take awhile to solve, and come back later 🙂

Great job! I wouldn't write yourself off of UCSF or UCLA. Definitely apply and apply early. Your scores are around their averages =) although your GPA is slightly lower.

wow! congrats! only 5 weeks of studying?!? i'm about 4 weeks away and i started studying a month ago and i don't feel prepared at all.

omgdats- yea i studied about 5 weeks but my summer vacation started in mid-May 😀 so I was able to concentrate only on DAT. hehe.

bio-19
chem-21
ochem-20
PA-22
QR-21
RC-21

Topscore2:
bio-21

ochem-19
PAT-23
QR-21
RC-22

Topscore3:
bio-20
chem-21
ochem-23

QR-26

I didn't do RC for the last test. oh, and many ppl say that the 3rd test can be a close representative of your real DAT score. 🙂

How did you study QR?? what all important formulas and tricks specially for the interest and percentage problems can you tell us?? what was the hardest part for QR for you? I personally have trouble with permutations and combinations.

I have the hardest time finishing on time in QR. I took DAT before and did poorly in the math because i missed 8-9 questions when time ran out. 🙁

For percentage problems, I used the kaplan rule:
is: =
what: x (variable you want to find)
percent: divide by 100
of: multiply

For me, the hardest part for QR was trig lol but I memorized all the basic trig equations before the actual DAT. make sure to know all trig identities and unit circle diagrams 🙂

Destroyer was really helpful for gchem and ochem. I didn't do so well on ochem portion but it helped me nevertheless 🙂 and I didn't do QR portion of destroyer... I didn't have enough time lol

I think Topscore and Achiever practice tests were the most helpful 🙂

It reminds me of "the ring" and already gave me nightmares:laugh:; Great! So I would tell admissions the reason why I couldnt be focused during reading section was ----ding ding------------> Tydkyun Avatar! Jk

congrats to OP for solid scores. Nice QR score! was it ur first time taking DAT?

yea it was my first time taking the DAT 🙂 hopefully my last time too @_@ I don't want to retake this nasty. lol
