Hey Everyone,
I dont normally post on here, but I thought I would give some feedback for my DAT I took yesterday (June 24th).
I would like to preface that I am not a stellar test taker. I get extremely nervous and in general do not take standardized tests well. With that being said, I did average on this DAT (AA 19, PAT 22) I wish I could say that Im like all of you (AA= 21+), but alas I have hopes that my application has other strong points.
Study Materials: Chads videos, KBB/Kaplan course, Cliffs AP, Crack DAT (science, PAT, etc) and another chem/orgo book.
Bio: This section really threw me off, which was surprising because Biology was my best subject. I got a lot of questions I didnt expect- i.e. a ton on plants and knowing the life cycles of different kinds of plants. This is an area I definitely did not focus a lot on during my studying. I felt like there were just so many random questions here
Gen Chem/Orgo- Completely expected. Nothing was out of the blue. The questions I didnt know were on concepts that I didnt completely understand myself. My scores actually improved a lot from my Kaplan practices tests here.
PAT: This section has always been a strong point for me. I ran out of time though and the hole punching was hard! In general, Crack PAT was great for this, but I should have studied it more.
RC: This was my worst section on test day. I got this ridiculously hard passage about a piano. There was just so much detail and it really threw me off. I think here, it just depends on what passages you get.
QR: This section was easier than I thought it would be. The math itself was simple, but I got caught up in the timing and ended up having to guess on the last 7 questions. I was surprised at how many questions there were on arctan/arcsin, etc.
Anyways, long post. I think moral of this story is 1. study plants! 2. time management is key (obviously).
For those of you who haven't taken it yet, good luck! I'm sure I will retake my DAT as well, but I hope this can help a little bit.
