Just wanted to say thank you to everyone on the forum for answering some of my questions over the past couple months. I took the DAT yesterday and my scores were:
PA-20 88%
BIO-22 96%
GEN CHEM-29 100 %
O-CHEM-23 94%
RC-19 55%
QR-17 64%
TS-24 99.3%
AA-22 96%

Overall, I am very pleased with my scores, even though the QR is a little on the low side. I put the percentiles in even though they do not mean much.

BIO-had some extremely straight forward questions and also a ton of random questions that no matter how much you study you will never run across. Had the FRAP question as well. I used Cliff's AP BIO, GRE BIO, Kaplan blue book, and old notes from class.

GEN/OCHEM-kind of shocked by these scores. Usually I was getting around a 28-30 on OCHEM and low 20's on GCHEM, but the roles reversed on the tests. I tutor for both of these classes so the questions were extremely straight forward. A couple random questions, some lab questions, and some spec questions.

PAT- ALOT easier than achiever, very comparable to CRACK PAT. I was getting around 17-18 on this part on all my practice tests.

QR-not terrible, time was a factor though. I haven't taken a math class since my undergraduate prob and stat class 3 years ago, so I had to teach myself pre-calc the past month or so. Had some extremely easy questions and some tough ones that I just guessed. I was getting between a 19-22 on topscore and achiever.

RC- Was awful, the passages were the most boring things I have ever read. Had the ethics passage which was brutal-24 paragraphs. I just could not get myself into the reading. Overall, the questions were not too bad though. I was getting 20-22 on topscore and acheiver, which were alot easier than the real thing. A lot of inference and tone questions, with a decent amount of retrieval.

If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask. I am a post-bac student with a 3.4 overall, and a 4.0 science gpa. Graduated in 2006 with a psychology degree and will be receiving a double major in bio and chem next May. I will post my Topscore and acheiver scores if anyone is interested.

Congrats man, you're good to go! Enjoy dental school 😀

WOW 😀😀😀

What were your study habits (time spent, hours per week etc)??

I hope to get scores like that in July when I take my test 😱

Congratulation!!!! 😀😀😀
I have the same questions as NuckingFutz

ooh could you please post your achiever scores?
I'm taking mine really soon...i'm so nervous haha
my achiever scores aren't very high, so it's making me kinda paranoid =(
anyway, congrats on the great scores!!

Good job! How long did you study for (months) how many hrs per day? Did you use Dat Destroyer? How useful was Kaplan Blue Book for the different sections?

Here are my Topscore and Acheiver scores for those who asked:

TS #1
BIO 17; CHEM 21; OCHEM 25; PA 18; QR 19; RC 22; TS 20
TS#2
BIO 18; CHEM 20; OCHEM 30; PA 18; QR 20; RC 23; TS 21
TS#3
BIO 22 ; CHEM 28; OCHEM 28 ;PA 18; RC 22; QR 22; TS 26

Acheiver 1
BIO-18; CHEM 18; OCHEM 22; QR 16; PA 15; TS 19; RC 20
2
BIO 17; CHEM 18; OCHEM 21; QR 18; PA 17; TS 19; RC20
3
BIO 16; CHEM 18; OCHEM 28; PA 17; QR 18;RC 22; TS 19

I mainly studied the whole month of May, really just emphasized on taking practice tests and doing nothing but problems. I also took 2-3 PAT tests a week using CRACK PAT also. In my opinion the PAT was not as hard as any of the practice tests I took and is most comparable to CRACK PAT. The paperfolding and holepunching were very easy on the real thing, so were the cubes. Goodluck to everyone still studying. I also used DAT Destroyer and worked through the math, chemistry and bio sections 2 or 3 times through. Organic and GChem were my strong points going in but I still spent a decent amount of time nailing in those subjects. They were very straightforward sections in my opinion.

Well, can you explain your gpa?
4.0 in science and 3.4 overall considering your a science major (double to be exact) doesn't really work out unless you failed multiple non-science courses?

I am a post-bac currently. I had a 3.1 GPA out of undergraduate while playing D1 baseball. I am a double major now and since going back to school I have a 4.0 with around 60 something credit hours. Your GPA gets combined in AADSAS, so my cumulative is a 3.4 now (undergraduate and current undergraduate coursework), and my science GPA is a 4.0. The only science course I took as an undergraduate was Biology and I got an A.

Thanks for the study tips!! I will try to do just as you did as far as focusing on doing problems which is what I hear makes the difference with these types of exams.

Congratulations again.
You did well, and thank you for posting what you used and how you used them.🙂

No problem. Everyone on this forum was extremely helpful in answering my questions while I was studying and the least I can do is try and help someone else. If anyone has any further questions feel free to ask.

Congratulations again.

You sure your TS score is 24? cuz when i calculated it, it averages out to 24.6666 meaning.... it should round up to a 25!!!!

TS is not an average. AA is an average (by definition) TS is your score based on how many science questions you get right out of 100 in the SNS.

TS is not the average of all of the scores. That would of been nice though. After looking it up it I guess I missed 6 questions on the Natural Science portion. Based on my other scores I figured out that I missed 3 Bio, 1 GChem and 2 Organic. I am still curious how I missed only 2 Organic questions and it dropped me down to a 23. The only thing I can think of is that I did not miss any GChem and still ended up with a 29. That could be a possibility. In that case, I would of missed 3 Organic and my 23 would make a little more sense. I am still mad about that Organic because two questions did not have the correct answer choice. I was thinking about calling up ADA to let them know but I think it would be fighting an up hill battle. What do you guys think?

You have a 24 TS and a 22 AA which is pretty flipping fantastic. There is a good chance that at most schools ( pretty much all besides Harvard) you apply to you are probably going to have the highest TS score in the applicant pool. If a school rejects you with a 24 they would probably have rejected you with a 25 so I don't think its probably worth stressing over gaining a few points. Plus the ADA has a way bigger package then you do (metaphorically speaking) so I don't know how wise it is to get into a pissing contest. If I were you I would be jazzed about my 99th percentile and just roll with it. Sucks that they screwed you though, congrats on those great scores!

hi i`m just new to nbde....am getting the hang of it though..i`m a foreign dentist n i wanted to give NBDE....could u please tell me whether u need to take DAT as well as nbde?i mean do u have to take DAT to get into a dental school...n also what`s the diff between NBDE and DAT?..thanks!!🙂..looking fwd to hearing from u soon

I know it is really not a big deal in terms of my individual scores, but for future people taking the same test it would be nice for them to fix the problem. There is nothing worse than reading a question that you know the correct answer and the answer is not even remotely close to being one of the choices. Anyway, I probabaly won't even call up since it will be a big pain to try and get in touch with someone with some power to do something about the problem.
