DAT Done 7/12/10. Should retake poorly in one section?

I took the DAT yesterday. Here's a break down of my scores

PAT :18
QR: 18
RC: 22
Bio: 20
G-Chem: 21
O-Chem: 16
TS: 19
AA: 19

My GPA is 3.57 overall and 3.35 science. Should I retake the DAT in mid-October to improve the O-chem score? Not sure how I did so poorly, since I was getting 18s and 19s on my Kaplan O-Chem practice exams.

Yeah I'd retake, you really don't have anything to lose.

Did you take ochem2? I'd get the ACS book, destroyer, chads videos, maybe read chapter summaries out of your college ochem textbook, and take topscore tests in October. Submit that app now, and call up your schools in October after you kill the dat on your second try. Make sure you improve in all sections, not just ochem.

You might as well apply to a few schools though this cycle and see what happens, b/c you never know, right?

You have good chances. Don't need to retake the exam. 19 is the average for most schools. Apply to many schools since PAT score is low.

I am worried about that too. Everyone is getting higher than 20, worries me.

Dude, the people on here are over achievers...end of story. Not everyone gets in the 90th percentile...otherwise, it wouldn't really be in the 90th percentile would it?

Although many schools require, on average, a 19, many of the kids getting accepted with those average or below average scores most probably have 4.0 GPAs both overall and science, or close to it. So yah, if you can, I would retake the DAT and make sure to let the schools know now so you don't get rejected before they get your new marks.

Think of it as motivation. Lower scores don't mean schools won't accept you, but it should just give you the extra push to study harder.
