Just took the DAT today, section breakdown included.
Perceptual Ability: 16
Quantitative Reasoning: 14
Reading Comp: 23 94.5%
Biology: 23 98%
General Chem: 19
Organic Chem: 18
TS: 20
AA: 19
PAT: Well, I was doing 18's, 19's and and 20 on the crack dat pat so I just don't know what happened here. The angles were very cimilar to crack, cubes were VERY much easier, keyholes were slightly easier, TFE the same, and patter folding slightly harder.
QR: This is not the type of math I am really good at. I had A's in calc and pre-calc, but word problems are not my friend. I had only about 4 simple algebraic problems, the rest where graphs, geometry, and permutations. I didn't study very long for this section and it showed.
Reading: I had 2 science passages and 1 non-science. I took the time to read all the passages before looking at the questions. I really think it is important to read the whole article so you can understand the tone questions. I have always been a good writer and reader so this strategy worked well for me. Be mindful of the timer if you decide to read the whole articles, be able to pace yourself.
Biology: This is my major, Cell Biology and Neuroscience. The questions were varied and required some critical thinking, although there were a few easy ones. I highly suggest knowing animal form and function.
General Chem: This section was half conceptual and half calculations. Some of the calculations were setups, and some had to be done in-full. I got nervous when I got to this section and it definetly slowed me down.
Organic: This section was probably 30% reactions and 70% concepts. I only had 20 minutes left by the time I started this section since I got slowed down on Gen Chem. I rushed this section and I know I could've gotten a little higher if I had more time.
BOTTOM LINE: TIMING AND CONFIDENCE ARE KEY.
If you start to stress or feel that you are doing poorly your speed will slow down and it will hurt you.
Once you finish a test section, forget about it. I found myself thinking about gen chem during hole punches.... NOT GOOD.
Study Mats: KBB, Destroyer, Cliff's, Schuam's,
Man, I just don't know how to feel about PA and QR. I knew my QR would be low, I studied that the least, but I practiced a lot for the PAT and even felt that I was doing well during the test.
I am hoping that my biology and reading comp will be my saving grace. Hopefully some schools will forgive my two scores on those sections.
My Cum. GPA is 3.75, science GPA is 3.76 BCP 3.72
