I studied the kaplan book that I borrowed from my friend. He told me that chem and ochem sections are good enough for DAT, but I had to find other ways to study the rest. So, I found out from ADA website that campbell book is used for bio. I bought a brand new book with no highlights online for $20 and started taking careful notes from my undergrad chem, ochem books and campbell book. By careful note, I mean I read those books cover to cover, took notes, but not memorized them.
Then, I read the kaplan book once and memorized it. For second time around, I added what was on my notes and not in the Kaplan book to the kaplan book (reviewed the whole thing). Finally, I studied the kaplan book with added notes for one more time.
In the beginning of my studying period for DAT, I took some mock exams that can be found on the back of Barron's and other books like that. Then, two weeks before the exam I took achiever exams (one exam a day). One week before the exam, I took the topscore exams (one exam a day). I didn't do very high on those, but I always had something around 19 or 18 in most sections. I never got 20 for bio, but I always scored 20 and higher for PAT. Well, exactly opposite of that happened on the actual DAT
😛. After the exams and on those days that I didn't take exams I reviewed the kaplan book with added notes. I studied on and off for 3 month before the actual DAT. While studying I realized that I have forgotten most of the things since my sophomore year. Basically, I relearned everything for DAT. That's why I read my undergrad books to not miss the small details. I didn't want to spend too much money on it. I have a 3.3 GPA and I think the rest of it now depends on chance and my luck. So, wish me lots of luck
