took my test earlier today, glad its done with. i'm a texas resident, think these scores will be good? gpa 3.9:
PAT 23
QR 19
RC 20
BIO 21
GCHEM 18
OCHEM 18
TS 19
AA 19

back to the test...when i got to the center, i tried to keep as calm as possible, used the 15 min tutorial to write down math equations that i memorized the night before 🙂 ha. then i drew some 4x4 squares for pat. and some short notes about bio, chem. gas law, sn1,2. just to help....it kinda helped. i thought i was doing so bad, after i finished the science part i was so upset. during pat and rc took my time, qr-calm yourself down. lol. no joke i was so anxious and nervous i kept messing up easy calculations. so just take it easy and focus on what ur doing.

Breakdown:
Biology- about half were pretty straightforward. no frap, although i got a similar question. not too many questions about organ systems. you'll have to apply your knowledge to figure out the rest of the questions. structure, embryo development, cells, big on genetics. half the stuff i studied wasn't even tested! 😡

general chem-i didn't spend much time preparing for this section, which would have helped. some were easy, and some caught me off guard. just keep practicing questions and understand the real concepts of what, why, and how stuff happens

organic chem-well thought i was prepared well for it, a few question on organic lab techniques, alot based on reactions. like how would u prepare this. isomers. not bad, but i was running out of time so had to go through quick 👎

PAT-i like this section so it was kinda fun. KEY HOLE was easy, no tricky figures. TFE-a couple were trick, most were easy. its pretty easy if you can focus on area and eliminate other answer that don't meet the requirement.
ANGLE RANKING, not as bad as i thought, on a majority you can get answer by find the smallest and largest, a few were real close, could have been any answer. HOLE PUNCHING- so odd, small punching that had borders within the square, can't explain....not too bad. CUBE COUNTING-easy, use kaplan method, had like 5 figures. PATTERN FOLDING-no cubes, yesss, i'm horrible at them. around 5 had shading, other were just irregular figures, real word. sometimes the difference was between a slant or straight side, so be careful.

RC-to be honest, i didn't prepare for this at all, 2 days ago i took one test so i could at lease be somewhat used to going through long passages. so today i just did search n destroy. at first, i read the first couple and last couple of paragraphs for these tone/(added para) questions. my passages weren't too bad so it was easy to get through them and get the answers

QR-like i said i was so nervous, i wasted alot of time becuase i would either mess and have to redo, or mess up and just decide to move on. one trig, real easy, triangle sides. a few hard word, a few easy. algebra, geometry, equality, conversions of units i had no clue how to(ha), graph function(wtf?, no fun) best advice, be cool: do it if u can or guess and come back, i'm pretty sure i had some lucky guess

Very nice scores, hopefully I can do similar next month when I take it. What did you use to study? Also, are the reactions on the O chem section pretty detailed? There's just so many, I don't know where to start.

Anyway, great job, you're set with that GPA! Which school is your first choice?

Congrats on your scores. I have one question...under your bio breakdown, what is frap?

thanks guys. here's what i did: studied for 6 weeks, 1st read through kaplan, then went through exam krackers and took notes, then read ap cliffs bio, went to destroyer, then reviewed and read on everything that i was weak in. topscore, achiever, crackdatpat

kaplan: good as your base and then build. for bio, yes its no good, but some of the questions you could have figured from it. but it would be very beneficial if you expanded, because after taking practice tests i realized kaplan wasn't gonna be good enough. for chemistry, does a good job of explaining the concepts, so alright. know ur acids/bases info, gases, and practical calculations. i was rushin cause time was ticking...but oh well. for organic, its good. most of the stuff i was tested on was covered in there, a couple weren't so i just guessed. so if your just gonna use kaplan, memorized and understand concepts and reactions

ap cliffs bio-real good, very easy to read. contained alots of information that makes understanding easier. it'll only take 2 days to go through it so its worth it.

exam krackers-the biology n gen chem was informative, but ochem barely had rxn and had diff format for mcat. but not worth going through. had it around the house so used it,

dat destroyer-its good and all, but overrated. lol. still worth going through because it will point out ur weakness. reflects the kind of questions u'll be asked. destroyer+cliffs+kaplan=success

topscore/achiever-practice questions get you in the groove of solving problems. i would go though each test, go over the wrong and right and right notes based on explanations, which helped

crackpatdat- for key hole and the difficulty was relatively equal no surprise there. i would say angles was easier on the real thing because the answers had great differentiation between smallest n largest. cube counting were smaller shapes and easy, no crazy illusions. folding was def easier, just odd shapes, and slanting here and there.

Congrats on your scores. I have one question...under your bio breakdown, what is frap?

Fluorescence recovery after photobleaching(FRAP) its been the talk of these forums, i didn't get the question. guess i was lucky

baylor, hopefully. if you know the reactions in kaplan and destroyer road map. u'll be fine.

I know the destroyer roadmaps crazy well, but the lab ones not at all. You say you had a few of those, ill have to work on that before Monday. Destroyer ochem has like 50% I get owned on, and the other 50% I can do. I guess it depends on which 50% the real DAT is like huh.... Destroyer GChem I can do pretty well, and destroyer bio is cake now. Hopefully Monday all will go well.

Ochem was mainly reactions? and like boiling point/melting? stuff like that, did you have any IR?

You had lab questions like #150 in destroyer?
A student wanted to extract hexanoic acid from a diethyl ether solution. Which compound would be best to carry out this extraction?

Or

#156
Five compounds were to be separated using column chromatography with ether on silica gel. Which of the following compounds would elute first.

just an H nmr. understand the entire aspect of #156, lol. thats pretty close, i didn't have that in my edition, but if i did it could have helped 😉

understand when u would perform the diff lab techniques: filtraxtion, extraction, etc.

Ok thanks, I got 156 right! yay, but you know the type of question is what I mean. Thanks for the input. Yeah 157 you may have seen is that extraction one. ill be studying those tomorrow
