I would like to thank all of you for the help you have given me through these forums. Without you guys, I would have probably gotten a 17AA. haha. I will post my scores for my practice exams later but I will give a breakdown of the exam.

BIO- Pretty straight forward, basic knowledge. Know your basics cold because it might be a simple question, but the way they word it can be misleading. Only a few weird questions that I had never seen before. I was at Q 37 and I was thinking the whole time "Yes I made it without being FRAPPED!" I hit next and I see (FRAP) in the question and I pissed a little in my undies. Know molecular bio COLD.

GC- Also very straight forward, only a few calculations, mostly conceptual and arrangement of the math. There were some lab questions. Like I said, straight forward.

OC- Probably the easiest section on the test for me. Basic reactions, only about 4 multiple step reactions. There were a few lab questions. There was one question that there was no answer to!! so I think thats one that I got wrong. Straight forward none the less.

PAT- Easier than achiever, comparable to Top Score. Angles were off by 1 degree which was hard to determine. Everything else straight forward.

RC- FRAPPED! Enough said. 🙁

QR Not bad, story probs, trig, algebra, stuff like that. Just do a lot of practice problems.

Study Materials

Destroyer- Overkill for GC and OC which is good because if you can do those, you will have no prob on the real thing. For bio it was also good to get familiar with different questions, and QR its good basic practice.

Top Score- Comparable to the difficulty of Top Score (good program for practice).

Achiever- Easier than achiever especially PAT. Also another good program for practice.

Schaums- Great for BIO. Its a little boring, but it covers the material in pretty good detail. More info than you need for the real thing but knowing more can never hurt.

Kaplan BB- Great book to get your feet wet when you first start studying. Covers OC and GC pretty well, but bio section lacks a lot of detail.

Kaplan Online- Subject tests are great. OC and GC are harder, but BIO is of comparable difficulty. QR can also be harder on some subject tests. A lot of practice there and I recommend it if you have the money.

1st DAT 2nd DAT

PAT-19 PAT-20 (88.1%) +1 🙂
BIO-17 BIO-20 (87.4%) +3 😀
GC-17 GC-22 (89.5%) +5 😀
OC-18 OC-23 (93.7%) +5 😀
RC-19 RC-16 (17.1%) -3 eww :scared:
QR-16 QR-19 (81.8%) +3 🙂
TS-18 TS- 21 (92.4%) +3 😀
AA-17 AA-20 (85.1%) +3 😀

Overall, Im happy with my scores except RC. It was getting over 20's on all my practice exams but the FRAP shat on me. Let me know what you guys think and I will post my practice scores later when I get a chance.

Pat on the shoulder!!! Congratulations!!!! You did wonderful!!! I am taking my DATs for the 2nd time also in 3 weeks...My AA was a 16 the first time 🙁...still embarrassed about it. I hope to do as good as you this time around. You will def get in this cycle with those scores. Way to go! Go have fun and enjoy the rest of the summer 🙂

Hmmm... You improved considerably in every other section, which is great but I don't know exactly what they'll think about that decrease in RC considering it IS the single most important section. However, you got a 19 on the 1st try so maybe they'll see that you're competent enough to read and understand and let the 16 slide...

Congrats, Great improvement from your first DAT. Best of luck, and go enjoy your summer now:hardy:

I don't know exactly what they'll think about that decrease in RC considering it IS the single most important section.

Is that true? What are you basing that statement on?

By the way Nixon, great job! I'm using the kaplan subject tests as well so I appreciate your comparison of them to the real thing.

RC is far from the most important section. tHE SCIENCES AND IN MANY SCHOOLS THE PAT ARE ALL MORE IMPORTANT.

I read the passage quickly and try to remember where key words are. A lot of people write down the key words and the paragraph number, but IMO it wastes time. I got a 16RC so you might wanna use someone elses strategy, but before that I had never gotten anything below a 19 in RC. Sucks, but o well.

congrats nixon, can you post your practice test scores for whichever system you decided to use? thanks alot, and again, congrats, go out and celebrate!

I think schools "weight" the sections slightly differently. I've heard that sciences are the most important, but I've also heard RC is as well. An admissions officer from UOP came to my school's pre-dental meeting and emphasized this about the reading comprehension, saying "it tells us how well you'll be able to read and retain information."

nice improvement and congrats! one quick question. Are all the passages in frap test tone based or is it just the ethics passage? And is the ethic passage the only difficult passage in the RC section?

Most questions were tone based. I thought the whole RC was very difficult. Maybe I just psyched myself out because of all the FRAP posts.

nice scores man!
by molecular bio do u mean all the processes that occur inside the cell? such as glycolysis, krebs, replication, transcription etc....thanks!

i have seen scores like 22 on RC FRAP------> congrats to those ppl thats an amazing job.

Wow awesome scores! You can apply to any school you want... how long did you study for compared to your first time and how about the materials, did you use more for this one or same?

Congrats! great improvement, those are great scores. I have a question for u though, how close is Destroyer Bio compared to the real test? Thanks!!

An admissions officer from UOP came to my school's pre-dental meeting and emphasized this about the reading comprehension, saying "it tells us how well you'll be able to read and retain information."

are u serious?! i score around 19-22s on RCs and after every test i have no idea what it was about. To me, it tests how resourceful I can be when I need to find information in a pressed amount of time. LOL

Well first congratulation I think you improve and your scores are good, some school have cut off (like Indiana you need to have everything over 16 and RC 18), others weight the science more, don't worry I think you are fine....

I have this question....
Out of the 50 questions how many did you calculate were tone questions?

good job man. doesn't it feel so good to be done? Do you want to burn your notes too, or is it just me? I'm really sick of the DAT now... watever

Congrats Nixon! NICE TS!! 👍
