UPDATED AT THE BOTTOM, PLEASE SCROLL DOWN

I've been waiting to make this post forever!! Watching and congraulating everyone. Well, now its ur turn to critique me.

QR: 16
RC: 22
BIO: 20
GCHEM: 19
OCHEM: 21

AA: 20
TS: 20
PAT: 21

First off, this fall I'll be going to Drexel U, School of Medcine, for the IMS/ Master in Biomedical Science program. My cum GPA: 3.64, sci 3.61. Trying to submit AADSAS by tonight. What chances do you think I have at any Cali school (not starting with UC)? And whatever other schools you think I should submit to. Also right before my exam, litterally 10 mins before the exam, I got a phone call to say I got accepted into Drexel University, College of Medcine for their IMS / Biomedical science master program.

Sorry still kinda bum, I"ll update / give full breakdown Sunday night.

UPDATED AT THE BOTTOM, PLEASE SCROLL DOWN

NICE JOB!! Nothing to be bumed about 20 20 21!!! So the QR is low, its the least important section, you rocked RC which many schools really do care about and your sciences are great too. You worked hard man so congratulations!

Congrats, very solid scores!!! along with that GPA, you should be able to get quite a few interviews. I have a question for u though. How was QR section compared to Topscores and Achievers? Also, for TFE in PAT, did kaplans line counting method work? Thanks!!!

hey, congrats on both ur dat and ur acceptance for masters program. what was ur RC strategy and topics? what type of questions, if word problem, what type of wp did u have on qr?? any trig? a full breakdown on other parts appreciated. Also, did the counting line method work for TFE.🙂🙄😳

Great scores. As I told someone else with a poor QR: you'll make up for it during interviews. Last time I checked, a personable applicant with strong science and perceptual ability skills will probably make a better dental student and dentist than someone who can instantly reduce fractions and takes seconds to find out how long it takes painters to paint some f*cking room (i hate those questions so much...)

Finally i could stop praying- awesome- how naked and free do you feel?- hit the beaches man- i know how they are out there!

Congraaaaaaaaaaats! Solid scores man. You are getting in a dental school for sure. I have almost zero information about out of Cali dental schools, but I'm sure you will be fine. You got a bad ass RC.
Hey , you remember I told you that you are by a point better than me in PAT? lol, I got 20, you got 21. Good job.

Great job, both for your exam scores AND being accepted into that master's program!! That must have been such a mood lifter! 👍

hey congrats!!! i want to ask you what made the QR difficult? Seems to me that alot of people are having trouble with the QR section these days. Was timing an issue? thanks!

Great job man. You deserve these scores because I know you have lived and breathed the DAT for a while now.

Sorry for being such a downer, I was really bummed out earlier b/c so many ppl on SDN, especially lately have been posting up insane ass scores. Anything over 22 is insane to me. So I got a bit discourage when I saw my grades. Plus I had a really bad feeling during natural science and it stuck with me throughout the entire test. I swear I thought I was gonna get a 17 on gchem.

Before I break it down, I just want to thank everyone on the SDN! Seriously anyone that ever posted a question or answer, You guys/girls helped me even though I did or didn't reply. Special thanks to my homeboy Harry, who's gonna get into UCLA w/o a bachelor =)…damn SAV! Also thanks to : Pooyah, Mstoothlady, OsimDDS (my boy from the bay), Thudercatz, Dr.Green, Greenwave, Klutzy, Orgodox, Dr Hoya, and everyone that answered a PM from me. Thanks guys

QR: F-en hard! At least 16-17 word problems. I remembered 1 age type question (Q), a lot of geometry involving word problems, 2 trig (sin/cos/sec&#8230😉, 2 or 3 triangle Qs, 2 equalities, an interest rate Q, distance (speed and average rate), and a few problems with money. Oh and 2 probabilities.

RC: I WAS HOPING TO GET FRAP. But didn't. I really prepared myself for the frap but didn't see anything related to it on bio or RC. I got so lucky on RC. I had a passage on DNA microarray and cancer, Neuroantomy of language, and Ca+ dependent bio reactions and regulations. Dude, I knew something about each one of these. I answered like 1-6 on DNA microarray before I even started reading the passage, 3 or 4 on the neuroscience passage (my degree finally came in handy), and atleast 2 questions w/o reading the passage that dealt with 2nd messenger sys in Ca+ regulation in the body. Not too many tone, probably 6 total

Bio- that **** is no joke. And I really thought I understood bio. Umm its kinda foggy, but some questions that stumped me were related to: sympatric speciation, ecology, and evolution. Not a lot of physiology as I was hoping for.

Gchem- who said that is mostly conceptual?! I had well over 11-12calcuations, but 2-3 I didn't have to solve. 2 limiting reagents / % product formed, 1 buffer, 1 neutralization, 2-3 acid/base, 1 E not, none on phase change, 1 on pH, and a lot of just conversions between moles-molarity-molality-grams-mass-density stuff, and PV=NRT stuff.

Ochem – I don't remember anything. I remember no H/C-NMR or IR—I was hoping for a few of these. I had maybe 1 nomencatlure, 2 R/S eantomer stuff, I had 2 questions on mechanism-yes mechanism. No polymer. Oh there was a sugar question, can't remember it tho.

PAT- KEYHOLE WAS TUFF!! TFE, holes, and cubes were cake. Angles—dude the angles are way easier to see than vs Crack. The image is displayed really big! So its was easier than crack to distinguish the angles. Pattern---a lot more weird folds –like straight accordion type folds—some really weird crazy folds. Not too many shadings. I remembered 2 shadings were just impossible to figure out. 1 dealt with a cube figure and the other was just a weird figure with extra weird shadings. I don’t think you can really prepare for those insane folds.

Overall- I guess I did alright. Not as bad as I felt I did during the exam. But its just that so many ppl are getting killer scores in this forum, I just feel left out =( .

But atleast I got into Drexel U! I think its gonna be a great way to prepare for dental school since it will be taken in a medical school atmosphere / curriculum.

Sorry that this is really long, I just want to be informative!

Study material: Kaplan, old text books, and I got destroyer 2 weeks before the exam. So I only went through it maybe 1.5times. Crack pat, I lost my first 5 test records (long story but it was something like 18,19,19,19,22,20,20,20,20,22,21) .

Started studying beginning of June, and got really serious starting beginning of July. However the whole time, I still worked 16+ hrs a week as a dental office manager /dental assistant. Forgive me if you don’t see me around that often anymore, I gotta go back to work fulltime for right now =).

HEY THANKS EVERYONE FOR READING THIS POST!!

I’m out like the Lakers in game 6! Haha!

IT FEELS SO SO SO SO SO GOOOOOOOD TO KISS THIS **** GOODBYE!!! i think these dat books and notes will be good for campfire this weekend 🙄. PEACE OUT GUYS!!!

Congrats, very solid scores!!! along with that GPA, you should be able to get quite a few interviews. I have a question for u though. How was QR section compared to Topscores and Achievers? Also, for TFE in PAT, did kaplans line counting method work? Thanks!!!

Thanks! umm I didn't use topscore or achievers. But i think its safe to say if you understand all of the QR in the kaplan's subject test you should be good for QR.

TFE - line counting worked on like 2 problems and maybe narrowed it down to 3 out of 4 on like 4-5 problems. It came down to picturing the image and understand what is hidden (dashed) and what is visible (solid).

congrats on making it to the other side with nice scores! they're pretty good for USC🙂
thanks, hmm USC huh? Cool! thanks I'll look into it!

oh whats your PAT? i know UOP weighs that more heavily than other schools

I hope so, b/c UOP is my top choice. Umm breakdown and scores are on top, but if ur lazy to scroll its 21 😀

Hoang, you are money for UoP. I love that school! its my top choice too!! hehe I got a 28 on my PAT but my other scores were suck. I thank the high score to hours of guitar hero the week before the test. iono, im retaking it again this monday! 😱 hopefully they take top scores of both tests? i know UNLV does that 🙂

Congratulations! Can't wait to feed my DAT books to a blazing fire when im done too lol....You did great and should be soooo proud of urself. It's very intimidating that a lot of people on this forum are getting such high scores, but remember they only represent a very small percentage of the applicants...u'll def get in this cycle. I take mine mid - August and hope to do as well as you. Enjoy your life now! Thanks for the feedback.

First I want to say congrats on your scores, don't worry about that QR section!! I am not new to SDN, I have been looking around for months, but I am a new poster. I just wanted to say that it really nice how everyone helps each other out. I am posting now because there seems to be a lot less cattiness than before.

So just a thought, getting Frapped is really not as bad because the test makes up for the insane RC by giving less calculation for the GC? This is a question not a statement... I plan to jump to the other side of the fence on August 25th... I better start focusing (somethig that has proven to be a problem the past few weeks).

Again CONGRATS on the masters and the rocking scores and...

well being done! 🙂

Dude solid scores. I havea friend who got a 16 last year in QR and now he is starting Stonybrook, which is a very good school. You have nothing to worry about. A solid AA solid TS and a solid PAT. Job well done.

Bio- that **** is no joke. And I really thought I understood bio. Umm its kinda foggy, but some questions that stumped me were related to: sympatric speciation, which one of these are deutrosome, umm lots of ecology and evolution. Not a lot of physiology as I was hoping for. Oh I remember this one, if you implant a 2nd notochord under the one that is forming already in a developing frog embryo, what would you get? I put somite, but I have no idea!

Gchem- who said that is mostly conceptual?! I had well over 11-12calcuations, but 2-3 I didn’t have to solve.

Umm cmpd under acidic condition and heat with some reagent, which will occur first. 2 of those questions. No polymer. Oh there was a sugar question, can’t remember it tho.

What % of your bio questions were application..like the frog embryo question??

I had alot of PM on RC, so I jus thought I give a little more info. I just thought I got extremely lucky b/c I didn't even practice for this at all. I only did one full length practice test and that was the only RC practice I did.
passage 1: DNA microarray-technique and application
passage 2: How the brain process language and the effect language has society
passage 3: Ca+ regulation and fucntion at the molecular level. This was pubmed-level difficulty and detail.

I think I got extrememly lucky b/c I knew a little bit from each of the 3 passages so It was just an easy read. I don think I even finished 2nd and the 3rd passage completely. I used search and destroy, w/o ever using it before. So...Not saying that I recommend it, I'm just saying that's what I used. I tried kaplan's method of taking notes, but it took too long. But it could also be I didn't have much practice using it.

Thanks everyone for all the kind words and comments. Good luck on you DAT !!!

Everthing it still really fresh in my mind, so please PM me or post a questions if I can help you out!

-Peace
