SDN had been a valuable study source for me for the last couple of months. I just want to say thanks to those who gave out the time to share tips/hints/etc. for the DAT. And now, it's my turn to give something back to the community.
Here are my scores:
PA: 22
It was easy. The angles were a bit tough ~ comparable to Achiever/CDP.. I think I missed most of my questions bc of this stupid section. Some angles were like 1 degree difference I swear... Holes were ~ to Achiever (I didn't get any questions with 1/2 punch). Cubes were ~ to CDP. Everything else was easier Achiever/Topscore/CDP.
My scores on practice tests were all < 22
QR: 19
Timing was a big issue for me. I skipped through most word problems that I thought would take me a while to do and did all the easier ones first. I had to guess on like 5. Oh yea, one of the questions DID NOT have the correct answer..... I'm serious. I kept on double and triple checking but still did not find the correct answer there. I scored around 19-22 on practice tests. I thought QR on real DAT was much harder than those on Achiever/Topscore. You definitely need to know some conversions...
RC: 18
FRAPPED! I don't know what to say but when I saw the FRAP question on the Bio section.. I was like.. OMG.. i'm so screwed...
I ended up realizing the ethics passage was actually NOT that bad. I found it to be the easiest passage of all 3. There was no tone question for this passage 😀 while the first 2 had several... 🙄
Biology: 20
It was definitely harder than I thought. The questions were really random and there were quite a few application problems. Overall, I'm pretty happy with the score because I thought I did much worse.
GC: 21
🙄 Some questions were weird. I think Kaplan BB is all you need to do well on this part.
OC: 25
Easy! I don't know what I missed tho. Kaplan BB is sufficient once again.
TS: 21... I don't get it.. was I supposed to get a 22?
AA: 21
I'm a rising senior with 97 hours finished at a university in TX (TX resident).. actually I've only done 2 years of undergrad but because I came into college with quite a few college credits, I was a sophomore in my 2nd semester there. I'm going to graduate with a BS in Economics in Spring 09.
Science GPA: 4.00
Cumulative GPA: 3.96
Took: GChem 1 & 2 and labs, OChem 1 & 2 and labs, Bio 1 & 2 and labs, Physics 1 & 2 and labs, Genetics, Biochem and Human Phys.. done with all the prerequisites for 3 dental schools in TX. I'm only applying to the 3 schools in TX, btw.
Extracurricular: just enough 😛
Number 1 school: UT Houston
Oh yea, I haven't finished my TMDSAS online application :\.. I'm going through Health Professions Advisor Committee and still waiting for a letter from my dentist.. so I think my applications won't get to the schools until late August or so.. is that too late??
My question for you is: what's my chance of an interview/acceptance given that my EC are ok and letters of rec aren't so bad? will the adcoms look down on me because I've only finished with 2 years of undergrad? Thankssss
