I worked hard, and saw myself getting better and better which really motivated me...Bio really threw me off -- the questions were VERY wordy and consumed a lot of my time, which literally left me with less than 15 minutes for 30 Orgo questions...GC I had to rush as well b/c like I said, Bio consumed a lot of my time
Looking back, I would have done the biology questions last and started with Orgo then Gen Chem...I didn't manage my time well, but thankfully I didn't do so bad
Orgo I probably got 1 or 2 wrong on the DAT...29/30 of my organic chemistry questions were VERY similar to Destroyer...My advice would be ---- any questions you get wrong in Destroyer, make index cards and UNDERSTAND the explanations given in the book, don't simply memorize the question's answer.
Gen Chem -- only a few calculations, but definitely like Destroyer...when I would see the questions on the DAT, I would be like "OK I feel like I've done this a million times already" (since I did Destroyer 4 times)
Bio -- very wordy questions & application style -- Destroyer saved me on about 3-4 of my questions...DAT QVault was good too, but only for bio....I also used Thinkwell Biology videos really helped for topics I didn't understand; bought this app on my iPhone (much cheaper on iPad/iPhone compared to their website)
Reading & PAT & Math...Honestly thought I'd do better, but after my timing went wrong in the sciences I was already contemplating re-taking my DAT, which really messed me up (MID TEST!!).....PAT harder than CrackDATPAT on the real exam...Reading I ran out of time; the passages were science related but definitely understandable
Study materials:
- Destroyer (highly recommend)
- Topscore (recommend; nice to simulate testing conditions on the computer)
- DATQVault (ONLY for bio---Gen Chem & Orgo = garbage & had lots of errors that only confused me)
- Achiever -- bought the 5-test version...waste of $ b/c I never actually finished all 5 -- questions are way harder than actual DAT
- Thinkwell bio videos & Cliff AP bio
