Hey guys. Thanks to everybody on the forum for all the help in the past 2 months of prep. I took my DAT today and, except for the QR, I thought it was pretty fair.
My scores
Bio..............22
GChem........19
OChem........23
QR...............17😱
RC................25😀
PAT..............23
TS................22
AA................21

The QR section was ridiculously hard in my opinion. I never expected to get really high scores in this section since it's my worst but I can't believe 17. I studied Kaplan and Topscore a ton and I had quite a few questions that were never covered by either. I had 2 compound interest problems as well as 5-6 estimation problems that really sucked. :bullcrap:

I thought the reading comp section was really easy. I was so freaking out after reading about people getting frapped that I went into the test ready to get screwed. I was really surprised when I finished reading the first passage and answering all it's questions in 10min! Out of 50 questions, I only had maybe 5-6 tone questions and they weren't very difficult to fiqure out. I had a section of ethics as well as one on calcium abosrbtion. I can't remember the first one at all for some reason.

The sciences were pretty straight forward. I'm a little disappointed in my GChem score as I didn't think that section was that hard. The Bio wasn't bad either except I had some questions about gene translocation which I hadn't studied before. The OChem was really simple with only 3 or 4 synthesis problems.

The PAT was another section that I thought was way easier than Topscore and pretty much on par with Kaplan. With the exception of the angle rankings, which did suck, the rest were pretty simple. The cube counting never got crazy and no half cubes. Top front end was middle of the road with maybe 1 or 2 tuff ones. The apeture passing was really, really simple. I was so used to Kaplan's and Topscore's methods of turning the apeture before passing it through that I was shocked when I saw that all 15 questions didn't involve turning at all.

I'm planning on calling my school of choice to see if my QR score is passable, but I'm really nervous about my score. What do you guys think?

Again, thanks so much for all the help everybody and good luck to all yet to take their DATs.😀

Oh wow a 25 on RC?? Did you study for that section or are you just naturally a good reader

Thanks a lot. 😀

Actually, I didn't study much for that section but I found a strategy that really worked well for me. I used Kaplan's idea about writing down the main idea of each paragraph while I read quickly through it. I didn't go at hyperspeed, but each passage took me about 5 min. to read.

I would make mental notes about the "types" of things each paragraph was talking about too. Nothing big or detailed, just enough to give me an idea on where to find the info later on. I read the first question and then proceeded to hunt and peak my way through the passage. If I didn't find the answer in the first 30-45sec, I skipped it and went on to the next one. I almost always found the answer to the first question while looking for the second one. I finished with a little over 7min. left, and went back to check the few I wasn't 100% sure about.

I think the key to the RC is finding how you best find info in passages. Being a Biochem major and having a whole year of anatomy under my belt, I'm really used to having to search through huge sections to find the needed info. I used that to my advantage during the test.

congrats dr numbskull

ur score IS awesome. QR, meh 17 is avg dont worry about it.

i am more impressed with your PAT score. Think this is my first in the forum seeing a guy with 23 🙄

did you use CDP by chance? i really need some pointers on how to do things faster, especially on TFE and angles

wow! GREAT SCORES! i hear that QR reasoning they care about the least, so good thing ur lowest score was there. thanks for the post!

Thanks a lot. I was freaking about the QR.
Actually I used Kaplan and topscore. I thought the PAT section was really, really easy compared to Topscore and about the same as Kaplan. The only part that was difficult was the angle ranking. Keyhole was way easier than even Kaplan as almost all the possible answers used the same orientation. I think I had only one question where I actaully had to turn the object to find the right answer. Top front end was pretty average. It wasn't easy, but it certainly wasn't hard either.
