Hi,
I had really bad mood at the moment of entering the testeing center door. And, it turned out to be true that I would be screwed. Here is my score

Last year/ This year
Bio 20 / 18
GChem 19 / 16 😱😱😱
OChem 19 / 19
PAT 24 / 23
RC 17 / 16 Jesus.............
QR 17 / 19

The only score I improved is QR. evetrhing else went down. I thought I really studied hard, this is absurd. I almost memorized the answer and the reason why the other choices wrong, because that's what you guys said all the time about the Destroyer. Guess what. The material that I took yesterday was extremely unfamiliar to that I stuied all the times the last 4 months. I used KAPLAN 5 practices exam, Destroyer, Achiever, Top score and a bit of Cliff AP biology.

Well... no excuse anyway,,, maybe it wasn't right way to study. I don't know what to do now. I already took three times DAT. I heard that we need special permission to take the 4th exam. Anyone knows how to get it?

Why did you do a reatake? You other score looked ok... Have you already applied before? Did you ask them on how to improve your chances and what you need to do?

I applied last year with the old score, and none of schools gave me a interview chance. I have very low GPA like 2.9 science GPA and overall 3.0. I have 3 years of dental office experience and a couple hundred hours of volunteer. I called in the beginning of this year, and they said it would be better to retake it, because what I have is just average. In order to boost up the chance to get interview with my low gpa, high DAT score is essential, and that's why I was focusing on this exam. Now I am completely exhausted. Actually in panic right now. what should I do? I was going to take a few more classes after my dat with good score. Now I am in dillemma.

Wow, thats a bummer. I feel for ya. It looks to me like you may end up needing to do a year of post bac or masters. Don't give up on this cycle though, you never know! So why do you think you got nailed on gen chem?

I'm wondering how did you study the Destroyer? How many times and how much time did you go over the entire book? how many hr did you study for the DAT each day? Sorry just a ton of qs. 🙂

Here is my opinion... and take it for what its worth my stats are far from stellar (cGPA 3.2, sGPA 3.1, DAT 21/20/21)..

Ok, well I see that you have a lot of experience, and that counts for something... but they need to see a strength in either your DATs or GPA... They need to some sign of your intellect or test taking ability... I mean we are trying to become doctors 🙂

I dont know if some schools will look at your highest in each section... I have heard some will... Id apply to those...

There was a post a few days ago saying that one dental school has on their website that if you have to take it a 4th time you should reconsider your choice of profession or something...

I would cheer up. and if you do take it again I suggest taking a DAT break this year and taking as many classes as you can and do great (show your upward trend)... and take the DAT in the summer... because it after 90 days you will most likely be pretty late for this cycle... so even though you want to just get it done dont rush it. Take classes that will help you on your DAT!

You had a great PAT score in your last exam...that might have carried you in some schools.

GOOD LUCK with your apps.

doc3232, are you saying to apply schools with this score anyway?
Thanks for your opinion, daydream46

Don't listen to me...I don't know too much about scores and where to apply. All I know is that I have read some schools appreciate a very high PAT score.

Post in the Pre-dental forum (not the DAT forum) and see what people say.

what do you mean the material on teh DAT was very unfamiliar to what you studied? It seems like you studied every book out there! I am just a little confused---- my test is Tuesday and I never used destroyer so I'm worried if its unfamiliar to you then waht will it be to me!

Exactly, I'm thinking the same thing! Now I'm starting to freak!

You 'll do fine, don't look at scores of others, just do your best; the key is don't get stressed before the test and be very WISE with timer ticking.
Good luck.

Hi, if I were you, I would not retake and start focusing at increasing GPA which is IMO the main reason they coul not overlook your RC/QR scores from last year. And now it's just worse .... I can't even imagine studying 4 months for the retake and how you feel after such results... IMO you overstudied stuff .
Good luck and no offense.
