DAT done 8/17

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
First off, congrats on being done!

I think you have a shot, but since the schools you mentioned have avg GPA of 3.4 and DAT of 19, it is somewhat higher than your stat.

If those are your state schools, then I think your chances are def. higher. Otherwise, try and see if you can apply more to increase you odds.

You should also call the schools that you applied to and see if they only accept the official score from ADA or if its ok if you send them your faxed copy. That way, they can process your app sooner thus giving your a better chance.

I'm finally done...yessssss!!! Freedom from study feels oh so good now! Anyways, here's how I did...

PAT 19 (76.8%)
Quant 19 (81.8)
Reading 19 (53.9)
Bio 17 (51.1)
G. Chem 18 (60.6)
O. Chem 17 (52.7)
TS 17 (50.6)
AA 18 (63.2)

It was a grueling experience to say the least. My testing center was awesome and I got to use paper and pencil unlike all the dry-erase posts I've seen.

Bio- WTF? Saying this section is hard is an understatement. Mostly same information as other posts have had...

G. Chem- Know concepts really well...

O. Chem- Straightforward...(I didn't have any questions on amino's, carbs though)

Quant- Practice word problems...

Reading Comp.- Lots of tone questions...luckily I was very familiar with one of the passages and was able to answer 6 q's without even looking them up...

PAT- I thought the keyholes and TFE problems were really hard compared to practice I had used...

I know this is a real general overview, but I didn't feel like typing EVERYTHING out...If you have any further questions I would be happy to answer them for you.

Study Materials:

KAPLAN blue book (YOU ARE IN TROUBLE IF THIS IS ALL YOU'RE USING...I WISH I HAD KNOWN THIS!!!)

Quick Study guides I had left over from class...These were really good to help review for both chems before the test...I think they have a website just search for Quick Study guides on google

Web sites I used:
www.purplemath.com
http://www2.wwnorton.com/college/chemistry/gilbert/home.htm (this site has awesome animations and practice for G.Chem...highly recommend taking a look at this)

Well, that's about all I can think of right now and of course I'm gonna ask, "What do you think my chances are?" I'm applying to UT Memphis, Louisville, Kentucky, and Alabama and my GPAs are 3.17 science and 3.45 overall. Good luck and if you have any further questions just post!

Congrats for becoming a free man!!!

I used the Kaplan book pretty much exclusively on my first crack that didn't stop me from getting a 20 in Biology. How straightforward is Orgo? I am using DAT destroyer and it is throwing me in a loop in Orgo.
