Bio 27 👍👍👍
GC 18 👎thumbdown
OC 17 (52.7%)

AA: 20
TS: 20

Despite having a perfect Bio score, my OC and GC scores aren't hot. I just hope that the schools will focus more on my Bio section 😎

Bio had many stuff that wasn't covered in Kaplan or Destroyer.
I mainly focused on Schaum's Bio outline - I knew the book like my wife (maybe more🙄 ). While it is true that the Bio is very random these days, it is pretty much all covered in the Schaum's. Cliff is good too, but there were some questions in the real DAT that wasn't in Cliff but in Schaums. To be safe, I would do both Schaums and Cliffs AP. Peruse the Schaums and review the materials with Cliffs if you get bored. Honestly, I don't think your Bio will go lower than 22 when you peruse the Schaums.

More than 40% of the RC were tone/implication questions. I won't say they are crazy hard, but I can't just glance the passages for key words.

I was never good at chemistry, and I will take my score.

Good luck to you all! :luck:

One question for you guys.

If I simply give out the number of page of Schaums from where an identical picture has appeared in the actual DAT, would that be ok? I won't talk about the content. I personally don't think doing so would be violating any copyright. If anything, the ADA has copied Schaum's picture (or it could be that the picture is from another common source). But I am a puzzy cat.. :scared:

hey,

good job, great bio score.

i m taking my DAT on 22nd. u mentioned schaums is best to study for bio right? i been studying kaplan, but i don't have much time left...i m all over now trying to put my hands on anything to learn fast. i m even thinking i will delay my exam..
just like u i m not very good at chem..from ur experience...what do u think i should study my gchem and ochem from?

No, it is not word for word question, but the pictures are exactly the same - even the labels are the same. This isn't one of the famous pictures from any textbook. That is why I am rather surprised by it.

I think there were many people that have taken the DAT in September and have gotten into handful of top dental schools. Take whenever you feel ready - don't rush. For GC and OC, I am sadly not the right person to give out advice. I am just bad with those subjects 🙁

Better not. I'm glad you asked so that I can address this. On SDN you can discuss material used to study, but if you happen to run across something similar when taking the actual DAT you cannot, I repeat, cannot list the questions. You can say that a certain review had similar material and so on, but anything that can be directly found on the DAT, is prohibited. People now know to study Schaums and pay attention to the pictures because there was a similar one on the DAT, that's plenty. Directly putting the page number would be just the same as writing out a question. Good luck to everyone studying, and congrats on getting through the DAT.

hey, thank you. cuz i was totally being positive about my luck that even though i m not ready i will do good. but i think i was just kidding myself. i think i will push it to sept. and send my application first though..whats your opinion on that...i don't have shaums...SHOULD i buy it?

OH NOOO i wish i read this post earlier/known. taking my test on the 27th - do you guys think i still have time to read schaums bio? how many pages is it????

its a around 350 i think. but thats cuz each chapter has like 4-5 pages worth of questions at the end. It has slightly more detail than cliff's from what ive seen so far.

I used the 2nd edition and it has about 450 pages. I think it is much more detailed than Cliffs. Could be intimidating at first, but it is 100% worth it.

I got 5 days left, and I'm heading to the store to go review Schaums. Hopefully they won't throw me out for sitting there and reading one of their books for 4 hours.

yea i have the same one, i guess i forgot to count in the classification sections, whoops....

Dont get me wrong it is more thorough than the cliffs, but since it is missing some info that the cliffs had and vice versa.

The two go hand in hand.

I would review the Schaum's for sure. In fact, you may want to spend most of your left-over time reading the Schaum's, if you are done with the rest.

i got 1 week and 1 day left until my test. I'm going to get shaum's but i also wanted to look over destroyer, my old practice test mistakes and re read that kaplan blue book. What do you guys recommend doing without a question?

i m delaying my exam to sept...somebody advice me what books to study for bio, gchem, ochem, qr, pat, everything...now that i have time...i already have kaplan and topscore...what else...i will get schaums

Assuming that you are already getting kaplan, ts and schaums...

Destroyer for bio/qr/oc/gc. From what I heard, their oc/gc sections are excellent.

Achiever for science and pat. The PAT portion of Achiever is by far the hardest, but also the most helpful thing when it comes to PAT.

If you can get your hands on other stuff like kaplan subject tests, you should also use them. Imo the QR subject tests from kaplan are very difficult, but it helped me a lot on the actual DAT.

Hope this helps.

oh thank u so much....perfectly helpful...so shaums, destroyer and achiever to buy....i got my topscore in next day express, since i was goin to take dat on 22nd....now i guess i can make it....

You shouldn't have TS shipped next day. You can actually download them on www.scholarware.com, which would've save you some money from shipping.

you r right...but my laptop, the one i was using to order, did not support windows. it is mac pro...but now that i have cd, i can use it on my other computer.....but yeah, could have saved it 15 bucks......destroyer is the one i m hopin to find used, and cheaper...but i think it gets sold, fairly fast...i guess i will just order new. do they sell them in book store?
