How's it going everybody? I took my DAT today and had the following results:
PAT: 18
Biology: 19
Organic Chemistry: 19
Chemistry: 19
Reading Comprehension: 21
QR: 16
TS: 19
AA: 19
Biology: Like most people were saying, the biology questions had more "application" questions, but there were a decent amount of straight memorizing the answer questions. I used Kaplan, Destroyer, and Top Score.
Chemistry: Pretty straight forward. Destroyer and Kaplan really helped. Only a few calculation questions. More conceptual than Kaplan and Destroyer
Ochem: Destroyer really helps out on this section, as did Kaplan. I also was lucky because I had my flashcards that I made when I took Ochem.
RC: It wasn't that bad. Similar to Top Score in my opinion. What helped me is that I skipped any of the tone questions and went directly to the regurgetation questions. This helped me out.
PAT: In my opinion it was very similar to Top Score. Some questions from Top Score were even on the actually DAT. PAT was never my strong point, and I only studied for it through my practice tests.
QR: I don't know what to say. It seems like a trend lately with low QR scores. I have always been pretty good with math, and thought that I was going to get at least an 18, but I don't know what happened. Time was an issue like others said. I would recommend skipping the long word problems at first and finishing the easier computational problems first.
My Stats:
Overall GPA: 3.55
Science GPA: 3.43
BCP GPA: 3.3
I applied to 18 schools this cycle, and was wondering what my chances are of getting into dental school. The schools are waiting for my LORs since one of my professors took forever to get the LOR in. So my application will be complete in about 2 weeks.
My top choice is UOP, but that 16 on QR has me worried that it will fall below the cut-off that many dental schools may have.
Any advice or opinions will really help me out. Also, if any of you have any questions about the DAT, I'll try my best to answer them.
Thanks again in advance.
