So I finally get to talk about my DAT experience. I'm not sure where I stand. Everyone on here seems to be posting really high scores. I hope that's not the general representation of most DAT takers. I would like to think that they are average but I'm not sure.
BIO:18
CHM:18
OCHEM:22
PAT:20
RC:16
QR:17
TS:19
AA:18
GPA
SCI:3.1
BCP: 3.3
CUM: 3.45
SO what do you think Do think, do I stand a chance? I've applied to 15 schools. I have lots of extracurricular and volunteer experience. I'm wondering if anyone is in the same situation that I am in.
Test Breakdown.
BIO: It's really hard to be fully prepared for this section, even with Destroyer. Random like everyone says with lots of application type questions. Know how to apply embryology concepts. I didn't even expect that I'd get an 18 for this section. I didn't get a single respiration/photosynthesis question which came as a surprise.
CHM: I thought this section felt easy. I must have not paid closer attention to the finer details. Few calculations and the ones you have are very easy.
OCHEM: The reactions where very basic SN1/Sn2/E1/E2. Kaplan is sufficient for this section. Know your Basics to NMR/IR They are'nt hard to understand so make sure you take some time because you will most likely get one of these type of questions.
PAT: Keyholes where alot like Topscore. I was usually able to narrow it down to two. It's much harder to narrow the answer down to 1 like on CDP. TFE also like topscore and CDP. Again you can usually narrow it down to two. Angles where almost all acute and opened downward. They also appeared much bigger then the CDP and Topscore. Hole punches were easy with a few tricky folds, no biggie. Cubes are a given. Pattern folding was hard. You can usually make out what the pattern will look like for CDP(the odd shaped patterns) But on the DAT the answers are very similar. Hope this helps.
RC: I dont know what happened for this section. The first passage went well and the last 2 had alot of tone based questions. I used search and Destroy method. I dont know if it would have helped to read the passage quickly and then search and destroyer.
QR: I'm actually surprised I got a 17 here. I felt like I was guessing on every question. Usually I narrowed it down to a couple of answers and clicked what I felt happy with. Know percentages very well. I hate those this % of that % of that % is what. Few probability and rate questions and of course the how old was Bob 13 years ago type questions.
So Do I need to retake with these stats? I hope that was the end of it.
