Hey everyone,
First post!
I began studying somewhere in the middle of June after the quarter had ended. I took the kaplan course, I thought it was a pretty good way to slowly get back into studying hard.
Overall, the course was a good intro to all of the material and the DAT as a whole. Is it necessary? probably not, but it was a good way to start.
I started taking a chem lab course over the last 4 weeks, so it was somewhat of a challenge to fit in studying with that work, but you make it happen.
I was scheduled to take the test 8/23, but the prometric center had "technical difficulties" and I had to reschedule for today. Annoying, but I dealt with it and just focused on destroyer for another week.
Anyway, scores:
PAT:19
QR:19
RC:22
BIO:22
GC:22
OC:25
TS:23
AA:22
Materials used: Kaplan course, destroyer, math destroyer, CDP, Cliffs, Chad's videos
BIO: Hard to remember what kind of stuff was on this one. I didn't think I was going to score like this... I was hoping for a 20. I definitely had a few where I never saw the material in question before. I read cliffs a few times, and did destroyer twice through. What else can you do for this section? No campbell, or any other materials. I didn't really like how the kaplan stuff was written, so for a textbook I stuck with cliffs.
GCHEM: Pretty straightforward, don't really remember which ones I had a hard time with. Do destroyer a lot, I did it way too much, but evidently it helped. Chad's videos were really good to hammer out the concepts, but really I think it was destroyer that gets you the score here.
OCHEM: Pretty straightforward, a bit easier than GCHEM. A couple ones that were odd, but not anything too out of the blue. DESTROYER was great for this. Chads... I watched them a long time ago but again destroyer will help you the most. The videos were better for the GCHEM concepts, versus the ochem stuff but they are a good intro to the material.
PAT: Ouch. Don't really know what went wrong. Some of the keyholes I felt could have two correct answers. Scored 21-22 on CDP and then a 26 on test 10.. Guess it wasn't my day for PAT
RC: Pretty straightforward. Search and destroy basically did it for me. Fungi/Ethics/Mesenchyme. Nothing too hard, I scored around 22-24 on practice tests (kaplan)
QR: Don't know what happened here. I thought that I had most of them correct, but I guess not haha. Weirdly my score was in the 91%... which I feel is odd for a 19
General Tips:
Do destroyer. Do it a lot. Do it like 4 times and you will thank yourself later. Even if you start memorizing some of the problems after a while, hopefully you have memorized the concepts too.
CDP I felt had a pattern that after a while was too straightforward. The real test was harder.
I only did kaplan practice tests, the midterm, final, and tests 1 2 3. No topscore or achiever.
If there are any questions, I would be happy to answer them!
