Hey guys, I'm new to the SDN but I just had a quick question. I just took the test today and these were my scores:

Bio: 20
Gchem:19
Ochem:20
TS:19
PAT:20
RC:19
QR:26
AA:21

Most people on this SDN have been saying that the QR score "doesn't matter" and I'm just wondering what they are talking about. How can people say that schools don't care about the QR when it's on the DAT? Should I be worried that QR saved my score?

First off, great scores! Your QR is insane! Secondly, I think what people mean when they say QR doesn't matter is that's the section that dental schools will give you the most leeway in. Compared to all the other sections, I presume it would be the least applicable in d-school. It definitely matters and plays a major role in your AA. You shouldn't be worried at all. Nice job!

first off, great scores! im kinda in the same boat, i got 24 qr and and 19 rc...i think what the high qr can do is excuse the mediocre reading score- i dont think schools will be impressed much though, bcs it does little to reflect how well u will do in dental school- u will def have interviews if ur gpa is good, bcs ur DAT is great- good luck

Hey so your scores are great! And also to answer your question - I spoke directly with admissions officers from several schools and what you are hearing about the QR - depends on which school you are talking to. It is true - I've heard from I think U of Pacific and Tufts Dental admissions officers (my sister goes to UofP and I am a tufts undergrad) that they don't really care about your QR. Are they going to remove it from your AA - probably not, no matter what you still got your overall as X and your science as X. Ya know? Don't sweat it - plenty of schools look at the overall. Doing well on QR means you didn't drop your strengths!
