DAT done 8/31/11 score breakdown

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Please take a picture of your scores and post it. Anything 26 and above is a little fishy. But if it's true, YOU'RE MY IDOL!

not sure why someone would make a new account and then post false scores..

CONGRATS buddy. taking it tomorrow, hoping to score up there with you! hahah:laugh:

Hey all. I've never written on the forum before but I read a lot of threads and always found them ridiculously helpful. So I want to share my experience, and hopefully it will help someone.

I studied from beginning of June till yesterday using KBB, Cliff's notes, Chad's videos, DAT destroyer, Math Destroyer, CDR and CDP. I "studied" for three months, which I do not recommend at all. I've read a lot of people giving advice about not studying for more than two months, but I didn't take it. I should have though. It didn't work out horribly but it was definitely wasted time.

Anyways, here's my score breakdown.

PAT: 22 (90.9)
QR: 30 (100.0)
RC: 24 (94.4)
Bio: 24 (99.1)
GC: 25 (97.1)
OC: 29 (99.3)
TS: 26 (99.6)
AA: 26 (99.9)

PAT: I used CDP with 10 exams, but I actually didn't get to do all of them because last two I saved for few days before the exam and power outage happened... It helped me with time management because early on I definitely ran out of time. Other than that, I didn't really see my scores improve with practice. I was getting 18-22 on my practices. I thought Keyhole and FTE sections were so much harder on real DAT (I was really surprised), but other sections were on same level of difficulty or very slightly easier.

QR: Math Destoyer, and some conversions. This section took me a lot longer than when I practiced. On DAT, a couple of them didn't
have what I got as answers as one of the choices, so I picked the closest ones. I don't know for if I lucked out or that's just how it goes on some problems.

RC: Again CDR helped me with time management. I didn't use S&D. I just read then answered questions, but I didn't linger on a sentence if I didn't completely understand it. On real DAT, first passage was a breeze, second one was hard (I got very very frustrated) , and third one was slightly hard but doable.

Bio: KBB, Cliff's Notes, and Destoyer. Went through KBB and Cliff's Notes couple times, and then I skimmed through Cliff's Notes a week before the exam. I found destroyer very helpful for this section. There were few problems asking me stuff about something I've never encountered. Not a lot. Just a few.

GC: KBB, Chad's Videos, and Destroyer. Went through KBB but I didn't read it carefully. I totally relied on Chad's video. Took massive notes and went over it twice. Destroyer was again very helpful. I didn't think this section was hard on real DAT, but I did slightly worse than on practices.

OC: KBB, Chad's Videos, and Destroyer. Same as GC. I usually have so much problem with organic chemistry but I learned so much from Chad's videos. I found Destroyer practice little too difficult. The real exam was a lot easier than Destroyer.

For the first month and a half, I was reading KBB, Cliff's, and watching Chad's to learn the material. Then I started tackling Destroyer. Using Destroyer, CDR and CDP, I set up practice exams. I scheduled for a morning exam so I woke up early so I get used to taking that long of an exam in morning. In the last week, I went over Cliff's, did 2009 practice, and started reading over Destroyer Bio section and OC roadmaps.

I was doing far worse on my practices. Probably because they were harder than real DAT and also because I couldn't get a grip until week before. I think I studied for way too long, and it was not helpful and just tired me out. So again, I now 100% agree with others who recommend 2 months of studying.

Thank you guys for recommending awesome prep materials and also providing help when prep materials fell short. I hope this helps and GOOD LUCK!!

First off, congrats on the score! That's awesome. I have a quick question which you'll probably reply with 'a quick search would have sufficed 😛'. But I'm in a second year of a masters program because I wanted to beef up my GPA for dental school. I took the GRE to get admitted in the program and am planning on taking the DAT summer 2012. Could you please tell me what CDR and CDP stand for? Thanks for your help! hah and good luck to you

Hmm? That Chicago address on pic is ADA address, I think. So I can't say anything specific about testing center unless it's in Westbury. But check in process took 20 minutes for me and there's a tutorial before test so I suggest getting there little earlier if you want to start on time. Also check your markers before you start your exam!!

Mine was in 9AM. I guess mine wasn't that early. haha

Best of luck to you!!🙂

Thanks all!! 🙂

CDP is crack dat pat program and cdr is crack dat reading. I actually don't know if they are right acronyms but I just used it. 😛 Good luck to you!

The Chicago, Ill address is that of the ADA.

It isn't where he took the test. All our unofficial score reports have this address on it.

one more ?. What did you use for the full length practices? Did you go with the 2007 and 2009 ones the ADA offers or Top Score or Achiever? Thanks! 🙂

I actually used destoyer with cdp and cdr to "make" full practices. And 2009 ADA practice as well.
