Overall, I don't know what to think. My GPA is below average so I needed a pretty kick ass score. Going into testing, a 19 was my 'meh' score, meaning I wouldn't be happy and I wouldn't be pissed either. I got a 19. Great...but I will retake it during Christmas break or summer. sigh. i just wanted to be done with this.


Biology: random as ****. like everyone says, i got nothing on any of the systems. i was pretty pissed about that. a lot of random **** that i've never seen or studied. bull****

g chem: thought i did much worse but i guess not. guessed on about 5 of them. pretty straightforward for everything else.

ochem: my strongest science going in. A LOT OF BULL**** reactions. by bull****, i mean stuff i've never seen in kaplan or other things. i really don't know what to study. there was a wittig reaction that i had never seen before but i guessed. lots of guessing but there was also a lot of easy q's!

rc: easiest thing ive ever seen. i had DNA arrayvision, the brain, and something else that i dont remember. i was so glad there was no piano lol.

QR: ....biggest WTF section ever. so many word problems, so many calculation problems, SO LITTLE TIME. i literally guessed 100% blindly on about 15 of them. i did much better in practice tests. time time time! BULL****!

PAT: easier than achiever and topscore. i scored 22's on barron's and 20 on my last CDP and 18's on all the other CDP's so i thought id get like 20+. it wasnt that bad. hole punching is 10000000000x easier than anything ull see on topscore or achiever. keyhole, cubes, pattern was easy while angles and TFE were hard.



in the end, my gpa right now is 3.00 but my aadsas around application time/summer/academic update will be 3.4 ish hopefully..


i shall retake, of course, and i know i can get 20+. the question is, when? xmas? or summer?

could you list what materials you used for the chems? What did u find most helpful for these sections?

for gchem, i used kaplan, destroyer barely, and barron's. kaplan is enough. did way better on gchem than any practice tests. pretty funny actually.

dude the RC was so incredibly easy. is it me or are ALL the questions fact based? meaning all u have to do is skim the passage and find the part thats relevant. yeha i used SD


the only hard questions was where it would give a statement and a reason (based on the passage), and the answers were like

a. the statement is true but the reason is false
b. statement false, reason true
c. both false
d. both true


i had NEVER seen those in practice tests and they were like 3 of those. i prolly missed those or at least 1. there was 1 tone question but it was rly obvious. yeha RC was inredibly easy. im just pissed cuz im pretty sure ill never get an RC like that again lol.

RC is hit or miss. Some people get a test where EVERYTHING is fact based. Others get the test with passages like piano where 10 of the 17 questions are tone and inference based. You lucked out.

sigh. yeah but my 24 and 22 were also my lifesavers. had they not been there for me, i would have bombed the AA. i dont know what to think right now

Nice RC and GCHEM for sure!! Sorry that you didn't score exactly where you wanted :/. I bet you'll nail the retake for sure though.


How would you compare the real DAT with the topscore tests that you were struggling with earlier?

Compared to top score, biology, QR (oh how i hate QR), and ochem were harder. everything else was easier.

I think you should retake, 2/3 of science section with a score of 17 will not cut it. Plus, you have another 17 in QR.

I would retake if I were you. Your scores are not terrible, but they are not great either. Especially considering how low your GPA is, I would retake for sure.

I think those questions screwed me over as I have to reread the passages to answer them and I ended up running out of time as I did not answered like half of the questions of the last passage. 🙁
