Just got done taking my DAT.... Sorta dissapointed:
PA: 21
QR: 17 👎
RC: 21
Bio: 20
GC: 19 👎
OC: 21
TS: 20
AA: 20
Maybe it sounds dumb being dissapointed, but compared to most people on SDN I bombed it. Also, I think I'm sorta in a position where I want to retake it, but don't think it would be a good idea at 20/20.
But anyways,
PA: There were some really weird keyholes that I couldn't picture at all and obviously the angles were just stupid. The hole punching was an absolute joke, MUCH easier than CDP. Very similar to Kaplan and Topscore, if not easier. Pretty dissapointed though because I averaged like 22-24 on cdp/kap/topscore.
QR: Didn't really study for this at all as you can probably tell. I didn't think the word problems were hard at all, but I didn't know my trig functions very well and there were probably about 5 questions on them so I ended up having to guess.
RC: What questions did I miss!?!? This section seemed like an absolute joke. I thought it was easier than topscore and kaplan, but then again I ended up doing worse than I usually do, so I don't know. My passages were, cholera, bridges, and nervous system. Pretty much all of my questions were earch and destroy, with a few tone type questions in nervous system. I'm assuming I only got 21 because everyone dominates this version, so maybe I only missed a few. I had about 15 minutes left to go back and go over stuff too.
Bio: Studied the least for this. I feel like I have taken like 5000 bio classes so most of the stuff was pretty easy. I spent a good amount of time going over taxonomy and there was only 1 very easy question on it. There were a couple of weird diagrams and one question on post-translational modification I had absolutey no idea on.
GC: I am an idiot. Pretty much spent my whole summer doing this and organic. It seemed like I spent way to much time on all the wrong things though. My questions were pretty conceptually oriented and the few calculations I had were very easy. KNOW ACID/BASE chemistry. By far my weakest area, the one I avoided most while studying, AND the one that was most heavily tested on.
OC: I thought this was the easiest of the sciences on the test and really thought I had gotten a perfect score. There were a couple of NMR questions, one of which was very tricky, and a couple of basic lab techniques. Like pretty much everyone says, destroyer is key here.
That pretty much sums it up. I am really pissed about GC and honestly could care less about math. I actually am not applying until next year anyways because I want to travel for a year so I may retake it in the winter. My GPA sorta sucks 3.35 cum 3.2 science, but I figure if I dominate my senior year I can graduate with close to 3.5/3.3.
THANK YOU SDN
