First of all, I would like to thank so many people from SDN. First off, my friend JWNICHOLS!! what an adventure dude we started this summer off "going nuts with matt" exchanging study schedules (pro kaplan) hahah anyways thanks a lot man I appreciate the support and having you there to vent to. As for others, DEMPS (always came to the rescue), UCSD1984, GOMSEMARI, and DUSK!!!! and for all those I didn't mention I still appreciate the responses and your encouragement throughout this whole process. However,I just got back from the testing center a little bit ago and I am still in shock. Although my scores are not TOPNOTCH or SDN worthy, I am happy with myself and I feel like I did all that I could.

Here it goes, please any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

PAT 21
QR 19
RC 19
Bio 18
Gchem 19
Ochem 19
TS 19
AA 19
(A lot of 19s huh? talk about consistent)

Anyways here are my practice scores:

Kaplan Diagnostic (3 months before test, very first exposure to material)
AA 14/TS13 ☹

Kaplan:
#1: 17AA/17TS/15Bio/17GC/18OC/17Rc/19Qr/20PAT
#2: 17AA/18TS/17Bio/19/GC/17OC/17Rc/17Qr/20PAT

ADA 2009(1.5 weeks before test)

AA18/TS18/Bio19/gchem19/Ochem17/Rc18/Qr20/PAT20 (guessing based on 2007 standardized scores.)

Topscore Tests (last week)

#1: AA18/TS18/Bio19/gchem17/Ochem17/Rc18/Qr17/PAT20
#2: AA19/TS19/Bio18/gchem20/Ochem19/Rc19/Qr19/PAT21
#3: AA18/TS18/Bio16/gchem17/Ochem20/Rc20/Qr19/PAT20

DATQvault avg: 18
CDP avg: 21

I used a variety of materials that include:
Cliffs AP Bio, Destroyer, Ochem Odyssey, Math Destroyer, Crack Dat Pat, DAT Qv, Khan Academy, Chads!!

~ON THE REAL TEST~

So starting off the morning, I felt sick and tried to eat a bagel and only ate about half of it before wanting to throw up haha. I got my things together looked over some IR NMR numbers then left. Upon arriving to the test center I said a quick prayer and just went in. The testing center was nice and the people were decent, I had to wait around a bit before being called in but it wasn’t too bad, I can’t complain.

BIO: On the test, what can you expect? Just about as random as it can get..I honestly made educated guesses on a few. Some of the questions were so random; even if I studied another 3 months I would not even cover what I encountered. I knew going into it that this section would be hit or miss but thank God it turned out alright.

Gchem: I am really upset about this section, it wasn’t that difficult I most likely made stupid mistakes like I had previously done in practice exams. Chads and Destroyer are all you need though.

OChem: ^^ see Gchem above^^

PAT: consistent with CDP if you can do well on CDP then I think you should be fine here. However I felt that Ke
yholes on the test were really obscure and had intricate shapes it was weird lol. Hole punching/pattern/ and angles seemed easier than CDP other than that, I am happy with my score here.

RC: I really did not do anything for this section besides practicing on practice tests but other than that, thank God I got pretty easy passages. I was expecting maybe 18 on this section so wooohooo!!

QR: I thought I did much better on this section than what I actually got but who knows what happened? But I feel like Math destroyer is all you need for this section. Work on timing and review all the mistakes you missed. I had a few trig, 2 probability, and some other random interest/D=RT problems.

Over all I am so happy to be done, I feel so relieved!!!! I hope these scores are good enough to get into school somewhere. I am a senior at UCSD with a 3.3 GPA Hopefully these scores are decent to get into school somewhere. Any advice would be appreciated, let me know what you guys think!!

congrats great scores!

Do the scores for your DAT exam show up right after you take the test?
I'm taking the Canadian DAT and was just wondering how the American one works because in Canada you have to wait like 2 months for the scores.

Yeah it pops up right away when the test is done

GJ predent89, great scores!

how does it standardize the scores then? like how could it calculate your scores relative to all the other people who wrote that exam?

DUDE YOU'RE DONE!!! Congrats man!!! Your scores are nothing to sneeze at, you did a hell of a job. You scored better than those awful practice exams we had to go through.

If you're at a 3.3 now, you can be at a 3.5 or 3.6 by the time you graduate! Kick ass in all your quarters and you shouldn't have a problem getting interviews. I'm sure more experienced peeps will chime in about this, but I'm pretty sure I'm right on the money. You got this man. Congrats again and thanks for the shout-out. I'll never forget how you and I both freaked out for like a week straight because we did so ****ty on our ADA 2009 and our first Topscore, lmao. I'm glad we endured! Congrats yet again.

Hahaha I know man I know! but yes we are done and we survived!! I just hope this will be good enough lol this took so much out of me and I do not want to retake!!! Thanks again and congrats on your scores as well!! 🙂

dmdluffy, thanks man, I am worried maybe a retake? but I feel like maybe I'm ok all my scores are above avg?

With a solid GPA your scores should be fine. I'd only retake the DAT is you're in a situation like me with a low GPA that you have to compensate for with a high DAT.

The scores are likely standardized at first against the general grading breakdown of the ADA. Then as people take the test, it probably compares it with those (at least for the percentages). ADA audits your score (thats why it takes 2 weeks for the DAT to get sent) to verify accuracy.

HEYYYYY UR DONE !!!!!!!!!! congrats dude !!!!
i knew u'd do great ! solid scores u got there !
u've worked so hard, and it finally paid off ! congrats 😀
so happy for you hahah

First off, thanks for the shoutout bro! We made it through..

Dmdluffy, have you ever heard about anyone's score getting boosted up after the audit? How would we know if that happened? Hhahaha *wishful thinking*

That bio section is definitely a beast on the real DAT. Solid scores predental89, you should get some interviews! But definitely ace your classes this year. 🙂

Haha I suppose it's possible though I personally haven't heard any body whose had that happen to them. You'd probably have to buy a score report to even have a chance of finding out.

hey thanks for the shout out!

yeah that is indeed a lot of 19s across the board.

Good job! you're finally through 😉

Demp!!!!! thanks man, what do you think? should i be looking at retaking? or what?

Tone of your question suggests me that you're not satisfied with your score.

Why don't you apply now with that score (I don't know how much you've gone as far as AADSAS processing) and see what happens?

if you feel confident that you can bring your TS to 20-21 + after studying again, then yes retake. Wouldn't you rather get a 20+ then a 19. Iduno man but thats just me. I hate that number 9

I wasn't planning on applying till next june as I just started my 4th year at UCSD, but I mean I feel that I did my best and I am somewhat satisfied but I feel like maybe I won't be competitive enough. However I will have A LOTTTTT of volunteering in free clinics and a lot of experience in the dental field. I hope that can make up for some of the other things but do you feel that these scores could get me into some school? not that I am trying to just get the bare minimum and settle for any school.

great ECs is always a plus 🙂

I would focus on bring up your cGPA more then. If you end strong I think you end around ~3.45 cGPA right?
