you see angry with a 24?

Nice PAT score BTW

not so much for the score (its right around what I was hoping for to be honest) but more so because of how much higher it could have been. my diag scores for reading comp seemed to hover around 23-25 while my QR was 28-30 as of recent. so to score "low" on those 2 sections really screwed up TS and AA numbers that may have been 2-3 points higher had I not gotten the bioethics passage. An AA=24 is always nice, but I can only imagine the feeling of getting a 26+

in the end im still happy, but mostly to get it behind me. 😛

Has anyone told you this yet?? I dont think they have.....Anyway, you're ridiculous!!!!!

well you shouldnt assume, because I have actually been told that a number of times. 😀 not sure if youre reply was an attack at me crying and complaining about my scores or if youre just messing around, but ill take it as a joke.

Nice scores! Do you mind listing what sources you used to study for the sciences?

my old textbooks. i reread my old bio, chem, and orgo books. I got current semester stuff out of the way and then spent the rest of the day reading my old textbooks and doing the practice problems at the end of the chapters.

for those interested, the reason i think most people dont get my scores (despite them not really being that hard to get) is for the following:

1)study too passively. people think reading a chapter makes them smarter and then they skip right over the review questions the books provide you with.

2)people like to do as little work as possible. this is obvious in everyones preference for prep courses and review books when they already have all the materials they need to get a solid score. people seem to think its valid to trade solid scores for convenience.

3)aim higher: i think most people study until theyre at or above matriculant average scores of around 18-19 and then they go take the test. if they get a 20 on a section theyre excited and they leave it at that. id rather fail miserably while trying to reach an outlandish goal than to set low standards that I can always meet. conveniently, my "failing miserably" is a relative term and still usually puts me higher than others.

4)STOP MEMORIZING! I dont know what needs to be said to get this through peoples heads. I see alot of threads on here where people are asking questions in a manner that makes it obvious that they dont understand the material and are simply trying to memorize it. the nice thing about legitimately understanding the info is that you can derive or atleast make a REALLY educated guess when you hit something you havent seen.

hope this helps and sorry again for the ranting and bad english. ive got to work on those things still.

those are insane... and not discrediting you, but aren't you supposed to get 30's if you get a perfect score on two science sections?

Yeah, so you're pretty much in everywhere with those scores if you have a decent gpa. Congrats!

amazing scores

how long did you study?

do you mind posting all of your practice scores?

Judging by your post count I will assume you are not a troll...hence I will not hold back from my response....

DANG SON! What did you do to get those ridiculously killer scores? Congratulations, I think you are set for dental school. I wish I had those numbers....so envious

Why did you get 22 in bio? Are you better in chemistry than bio? Were there questions that you didn't know anything about?

yeah I can respect that I got a 25 AA and a 17 on QR. I was like wow if I actually studied trig!!! But hey it happens just be glad you posted up a high score. Your odds are looking pretty good for dental school 👍

dammmmnnnnn... extremely well done 👍👍

don't take anything for granted at this point, and don't go into the interviews with the attitude of "i'm hot ****, look at my awesome DAT scores, i'm a shoe-in everywhere that i apply".

while scores like these really put you in a great (and envious) position, like contach said, they aren't a guarantee. confidence is one thing, cockiness is another... be careful not to cross the line into the latter during interviews.

btw, couldn't agree more with point #4 that you posted above (Post #7 in this thread)!

edited my original post to show a screenshot of the score printout. shows 100% for both orgo and chem. i think since orgo was 30 and chem highest was 28 that they may just be giving 29s for both now. the lady at the testing center said they were perfect scores based on my percentile.

sorry bro, i reformatted my comp last night (vista sucks!) since i had been holding off until after DAT. i dont have the progs installed anymore and didnt keep track of the scores anywhere else. but if you were just wondering about accuracy: kaplan and topscore were both excellent indicators and were pretty similar for orgo and chem. both were good for qr too and crackmath was as well, minus the fact that i had a couple questions in QR that were nowhere in any of those 3 (or anywhere else for that matter). achiever was a total pile of dogsh*t and wasnt even remotely close to representative for anything (just my opinion).

thanks for the advice bro, i gotta watch the ego thing for sure. im a really upfront person and wear my opinions/feelings/emotions plastered on my face. 😛

Is the Kaplan's book enough for ochem? I love all of the other topics but I loathe ochem and don't feel like studying more than the Kaplans for it.

Grats on the PAT

Hey whateveryoulike,
Congrats on the scores and sorry about the frapping. Does Kaplan really cover Orgo and Chem in enough depth? The white book, blue book, and online lessons seem to cover only the most basic level of material compared to what I learned in my four semesters of organic and general chemistry. I've been considering picking up some alternative resources to review these two topics in more depth, but don't wish to make an unnecessary purchace. Thanks!

I would recommend (100%) that people use the ACS gen chem and orgo review books for chem and orgo review. they are good to find out what you dont remember.

haha i hear ya man. i'm one of the most outgoing, blunt, and opinionated people i know, and that's how i was all through college.

once i got out into the "real world", i quickly learned that people respect individuals who are able to pull off greatness with humility MUCH more than greatness with cockiness. given our chosen line of work, this is an invaluable lesson that i believe will pay off huge dividends in our careers.

best of luck with everything...

Hey man AWESOME SCORES!

Now I need to ask some rhetorical question about something that a simple forum search would answer. I also would like to know what your scores were on all the practice tests you ever took. Oh and I need to know what you thought of all of those resources that you used. Oh, and never mind that I said awesome scores, that was just a front to get you to try and answer the questions that I was too lazy to do a search for.

Thanks man, you should be able to get into ANY school you want, even though I have no idea what I am talking about since I am only a predental student.

Sick scores, congrats!

The sad thing is (kind of) all that effort and someone with a 19/19/19 will start on the same page as you ;-) But I'm sure you'll kick some ass on the boards as well

Im more pleased with not having to worry when the application cycle starts. I prob wont get into every school I apply to, but I think Ive sealed my fate into atleast a few diff schools in the next cycle. Im entirely ok with starting on the same page as someone with a 16 if the school accepts them and makes the judgment call that they will be a good dentist. Well... just as long as that person doesnt take my OMFS spot 5-6 years from now. 😀

that is a very accurate statement. I love when people say nice stuff even though they know its unwarranted due to their lack of experience. I get the same feeling when Im congratulating friends and assuring them theyll get into dental/medical/whatever school and always think "man, my opinion isnt worth jack sh8%" so its funny you just came right out and said it, lol.

ps - sorry man, didnt keep my diag scores. i told myself I would so i could do this amazing breakdown of which sources are accurate. ill just say this:

bio = nothing is accurate due to the randomness and vast amount of potential questions.
chem/orgo = kaplan and topscore are very representative
pat = topscore and crackpat. crackpat was worth every penny
qr = topscore and crackmath were very representative here

Interesting...I got a 19 on RC (Piano) and it was around 60th percentile. I guess Piano is harder than Frap.

You haven't sealed your fate at any schools. :meanie:

you might have misread what I meant. Im not trying to be cocky and say that Im going anywhere I want. Im just making the statement that I can lower my tension levels a little bit since my numbers are good enough to convince atleast 1 of the schools I interview at to accept me. i will be ready to apply the minute the cycle starts. early submission with competitive scores gaurantees me atleast 1 seat at 1 school (barring me disqualifying myself by being social strange or bigheaded at the interviews).

i'm really sorry to bother you guys, but umm what's piano and what's frap? could anyone please let me know? please? thanks, in advance. 🙂

there are 2 reading comp passages that are supposed to be much harder than the others (which i agree with) and one is a bioethics passage and the other is a passage about pianos (or something like that). they refer to the bioethics passage as the FRAP one because you know youre going to get it if you get the FRAP question in bio. as to the FRAP question in bio, its a really strange question and its related to a subject most of us havent ever seen.

congrats!! the best i've seen so far. good advice on the ACS, i wish i would have studied those questions..
