Hey everyone, I just got done with the DAT and need some help. Im scared that I shot myself in the foot with the QR section. Do I still have a shot at getting in this year?

Bio 18
Gen Chem 17
O Chem 19

PAT 17
Reading 20
Quant Reas. 13

AA 17
PA 17

GPA 3.85
Science 3.70

My 13 in the QR brought my score down big time, I got a migraine and couldn't think during the last section. I have a lot of dental experience and research, including various volunteer work. Can anyone help me with any advice? Do I have a shot at getting in this year? I just applied to 15 schools.

Your gpa is great. Your dat is on the low side, and the qr I would think will keep you out of most places. Sorry. Bring that dat up though in august and you'll be great. It will take you busting your butt, so work harddd.

Your DAT scores are not supporting your high GPA, obviously. They might look down your high gpa, thinking as an applicant from an easy-school. I would definitely recommend to take it again.

Yeah man, I think you may get some interviews, but they REALLY like to see DAT scores as 18+. Your GPA will definitely help you out, but if it were me, I would try to take the test again. You really didn't do that badly, its just that darn QR score brought your average down a lot.

Sorry dude! You don't have a single score above 20. Your GPA, research experience, and all the shadowing you've done won't save you unless you bring those score up. As you may know, dental schools are getting more competitive each year. So, if you're planing on getting in this year, I strongly suggest a retake.

Like the other posters have mentioned, I would also recommend a retake in 3 months. Since you have such a high GPA, I wouldn't be too worried about having in a late application (they will wait to see your second scores most likely before they consider to extend interviews to you). Just let the schools you applied to know that you are planning to re-take it. Work on that QR and you shouldn't have a problem.
