Took the DAT on January 3rd. I feel like I could do better but I think I'm going to stick with these scores for now. Tell me what you think.

AA-17
TS-18
BIO-18
GCH-18
OCH-18
QR-16
RC-17
PAT-22

Kind of shocked about the QR and RC score but the QR section was dang hard. I will admit that I studied very little math before taking the test. Also, I didn't take my full 15 min break before doing the QR section. I think this was a mistake. I sat back down with almost 9 minutes left of my break and the lady administering the test required me to start the test if I was going to sit down. I reccomend taking all the break time you can. I used tow materials to study, Kaplans online course and DAT Destroyer. Both were very good materials and go about reviewing in different ways.

If you have any questions please ask, also, let me know what you think my chances are. I know none of you are controlling my admissions but the purpose of this site is to inform each and tell each other our thoughts right?

What is your GPA? Do you have any incredible deeds you have done? Judging from your DAT score alone, I'd recommend a retake.

Did u also get that spinal cord passage on RC?

I did have a passage about the spinal cord as well as one about morals and ethics in the workplace and I can't seem to remember what the third essay was. Seemed to be more difficult than any practice materials I had studied.

I have a 4.0 GPA. I've been working as a Pharmacy Technician for 3 years now and have a lot of volunteering. I volunteered at a medical clinic for a year that offered free services to people who don't have insurance and don't qualify for sate medical insurance. I also volunteered for a short period of time at a cancer research center at the local cancer treatment center. There's not a lot of opportunity to volunteer in the dental profession in the area that I am in. I have been shadowing a dentist that does free services at a ped. clinic and also does free services on a traveling dental clinic. I'm more interested in serving a small, underserved community. I am also a first generation student in my family which some schools take into consideration.

hey thats weird, i also got the spinal cord question for the RC. yea man tell me about it, the QR was ridiculous but i also admit that i didnt study for it too much.

with your 4.0 gpa, as long as your coursework has been somewhat rigorous..i'd say you're good..just continue on with shadowing in the dental field!

How did you do so well on the PAT part of the exam? I have been struggling on that part. How did you study for it and what advice do you give for that section?

Wow, I took the DAT all the way back in September and I had the spinal cord passage too! I guess they don't vary the test as much as we thought!

Even with a 4.0, a 17 is still kinda borderline unless you have a state school to fall back on. I would recommend a retake as well.

Agreed. Seeing your 4.0 gpa compared to a 17, they may feel it doesn't really fit. They may question the difficult of your undergrad school and courses.
