Well I just finished my DAT......all was going well until I got to the QR section....

Bio--------19
GChem----19
Orgo------22
QR--------14 :scared:
RC--------19
PAT-------17
TS--------19
AA--------19

GPA- 3.79 Science GPA 3.73

So I would have been fine if my QR wasn't so bad. I got an 17 or above on every practice test for this section.....during the actual exam I spent too much time working on the word problems when I should have just skipped ahead and done the easy calculation problems.

What do you guys think I should do? I am tempted to retake the test (DAMNIT) in Nov. and update my application with the score.

Im afraid you will have to retake. A score of 14 doesnt meet almost any of the school's min requirements.

Most have it on their websites. There is also a thread on here, forgot what its called, search for it. I think its by doc toothache. Anyways, it gives min requirements on it. I dont think Ive seen a 14 on that thread for any school.

I would not retake just to improve QR unless a school specifically told me to do so. If you feel like you can significantly improve the QR plus your other scores, by all means go for it. Doing a quick search on predents will show you that quite a few people get in with low QR scores.

I'm really hoping so.....I am trying to get into NOVA big time (which I heard from somewhere on here they have a cutoff of 16 on every section?) as well as 5 other schools but NOVA is my top school. Other schools include Iowa (i'm from Iowa City), Marquette, UF, KU, and then AZ.

I can't believe I did so horribly managing my time on the QR....the questions I had to guess on were not even hard....but I had to guess on near 15 of them.

I have very strong letters of recommendation, a fairly good GPA, and a strong personal statement so I'm hoping it will work out and the QR will be "overlooked".
