Hey guys,
First off, SDN was an entertaining resource that always kept me thinking about the DAT. It was also a big distraction! I was always so keen on answering toughh questions for chem/genetics, none of which really proved useful on the DAT. It was a straight forward exam.
About a month ago I started studying pretty intensely, then school started on Sept 9th, taking some tough 4th year sciences. I told myself that I'd skip class a week before the exam and finish destroyer and start topscore, as well as review bio topics which I'm not comfortable with. All was going as planned until... BAM H1N1 somehow found me... those fukrs, I now support the hypothesis that virus's are ALIVE dammit!! Anyway that cut my 'week' into 4 days.. I wrote a practice test fri sat and mon.. (DAT on tues@830am), barely got through destroyer Gchem and Ochem and didn't review ANY biology(cept the night b4, looked over those notes floating around SDN, great resource for last minute studying)!! I relied on my major, a terrible idea. So many things I could have easily studied if I hadn't been sick, I really could have done better. I regret not going over bio in the summer.. But all said and done considering the condition I was in I think it went pretty well. Here are the scores..
Perceptual Ability: 20
Quantitative Reasoning: 16 😱
Reading Comprehension: 19 🙄
Biology: 17😴
GenChem: 24
OChem: 22
TS: 20 🙂🙂
AA: 20 🙂🙂
My studying consisted of wasting immense amounts of time on SDN reading breakdowns, casually watching chad's video's (and really enjoying them), then slowly chopping down at destroyer. The few days of topscore + destroyer during the last push were pretty intense, managed to do 4 CDP and 4 CDM's in that time aswell. I know I could've done alot better if I hadn't been sick, I had a schedual allowing me to finish all my resources, including destroyer's bio section (which I didn't even touch).
For RC I had piano, aspirin, and cell communication. If I hadn't heard so many horror stories about piano, I wouldn't have paniced so much! Turned out to be a really easy passage... I think its changed since being the really tough one. Found the other passages more dense and slower to read through.
For QR, I didn't memorize some formula's and it really killed me, mainly random conversions and such. (was getting 20-22 on CDM AND Topscore) I think my main downfall here was not taking those topscores like a real DAT. I was taking breaks between RC and QR, TS and PAT. If you haven't taken them all at the same time then you don't realize how tired your brain is at that point. Practice your endurance!
K well now I need to play catch up with 5 courses! My application is in and hopefully everything works out! Thanks to all those who have helped me, I'll be coming back to help with random genetics/chem questions I see. Post below if you have questions.
PEACE
