Hi guys,
I just got back from the prometric testing center. Even though I didn't do as well as I wanted to, I still appreciate the tips on how/what to study from everyone. So here is my breakdown.
Bio: 19
Gchem: 18
Ochem: 18
Quant Reasoning: 19
Reading: 20
PAT: 16 (W.T.F. 🙁 )
TS: 19
AA: 19
So I studied for this beast for about 2.5 solid weeks consistently (4-5 hours a day). I'm a Bio major so a lot of the concepts were just being reinforced.
Bio:
Ok so, I don't even know where to begin with this. I'd say this section could be broken down into 2 categories...there are the "know it or you don't questions" , which by the way were pretty easy, and the "hypothetical scenarios based off of easy topics" questions. I honestly guessed on about 12-13 of these, so I'm really shocked as to how i got a 19 considering my topscore scores (16/17/17). sources used: cliffs, kaplan white book and flashcards
Chem:
I thought this would be my 2nd strongest subject. Barely any conceptual questions, mostly all calculation. I remember one question where it asked to estimate an answer, and all of the answers were relatively close (i mean like .001 apart)--> lame. But anyway, easier than top score in my opinion. Sources used: kaplan, chad's videos, destroyer (actually pretty good for this section)
Ochem:
Alright I thought i was going to straight up beast this section. Again, I was wrong. A lot of really really basic questions. I was pressed for time in this section so I had to guess on the last 4-5. No lab questions (thank GOD). Sources Used: chad's videos, kaplan white book, destroyer (highly recommend it for the maps..questions..ehh pretty tough compared to the actual thing)
PAT:
So honestly, i don't know what happened here. I was getting anywhere from the 19-21 range on topscore and CDP. Keyholes and hole punches were easy...angles, and pattern folding, not so bad. I hate TFE so I thought it was difficult. (Top score: 19/19/18); I used CDP, and topscore
QR:
So my exam was at 4:30 this afternoon and I read through my kaplan book this morning at 10 for about an hour for this section. But yea, everything was straight forward and I got a 19. Not too bad by my standards. I don't know what it is but I guess math sort of comes easily to me (maybe its because I'm brown, idk).
topscore (23/21/24) Book used: Kaplan white book
RC:
didn't study for this at all. I used the search and destroy method and it worked well for me (I'm not a fast reader either). topscore (20/21/21)
sources: None
So, there you have it.
Some stuff I also forgot to mention...
I'm going to be a senior this coming year and my gpas are on the low side (3.3 cum/2.95 bcp/3.0 science).
Hopefully I can get my gpa up by next summer and apply to dental school. I also plan on taking the DAT again sometime in the future..I just don't know when yet.
