Boys and girls I am finished. I took my test today at 11am and I'll say did pretty decently, for the most part. After taking an entire course load in my last semester of my 5th year in college AND simultaneously doing DAT work, I feel really good about my scores and I know schools will see what I accomplished these past 4 months. Let me start off by saying to study, I used Kaplan course & books, DESTROYERRRRR (religiously) and TopScore for the last 1.5 weeks.

Anyways, in the sections which schools put a lot of emphasis on, I killeeeeddddd it. Here are my scores:

BIO 23
GC 17😎
OC 19
QR 14😱
RC 22
PAT 20

TS 19
AA 19

General chem was the only section which extremely pissed me off, I SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN nothing lower than a 20. I missed about 4-6 questions which I know I could have gotten correct. BIO i really only think I got about 2 questions wrong, and reading comp I got the some crazy **** but still pulled through. Math I knew I bombed but I thought I was going to get at least a 15 (that killed me, or else I would have been at a 20+). PAT was surprisingly hard, those angles!!! Glad I'll never have to see them again! Oh well, its over. Feel free to comment, nice or not nice, I could care less about the haters because you'll see!! GOOD LUCK EVERYONE. Any questions feel free to ask or just PM me. Study haaad core.

Can I ask you what was your strategy for RC.People have different opinion for this section,I have a hard time getting my score even close to the average.
Some people recommending to go over Qs and read them first and then passage.
some say make map of each paragraph.
I really don't know what will be the most affective strategy!?
Would you share yours?
Thanks.

yaa..about that, i have no idea what happened but it worked out. My passages were difficult to even read. I didnt think I did that well but I DID! I actually in the 4 months I studied didn't do 1 reading comprehension until 2 nights ago on top score and got a 20. I'm sorry I have no answers.

great scores! I'm taking mine next week... how was GChem? It's my worst subject and i'm studying destroyer like no other. Any advice for that section?

Congrats!! That must be a HUGE relief! I can't wait until I get this test over with. :scared:

wow CONGRATS!!! I wannna be in ur position right now! UGH... hopefully i can after i take my DAT next monday.... feeling kinda scared! HOw was the Gen Chem section??? thats the section i'm most scared of! was there more calculations or was there more concept type of problems????

Congrats on the scores and being done. I'm sure you feel a great sense of relief right now. For the sake of comparison, what were your Topscore results like?

Thanks a bunch,

REH.

hey guys

YEAH..definite relief. Just a little bit of faxing, calling and of course..waiting!! As far as BIO, I knew Destroyer WELL. Pretty on point, straight forward, possibly a few calcs nothing crazy though, hardywein's and some punnets. GC was a surprise to me. I knew destroyer front and back, sideways up and down. I went through each respective section a GOOD 6 times. Knew it cold. My 17 in that section was due to my nerves. My orgo grade should have been higher I think too, Im and orgo TA/pseudo-tudor (if that makes sense). Whatever though, things werent hard in it, bp's, mp's SIMPLE calcs, very conceptual, loved it. I just hope those scores are good enough to get some interviews this late in the game, we'll see I suppose. Study hard guys. I did a 4 months 8hrs/day and about 50hrs/week type of boot camp. Just do it, its possible!

Nice work man! Now just kick back, smoke a blunt, turn on some good music and let the good times roll for a while.

Don't sweat the QR...it was a bit ridiculous this cycle it seems; it was the worst section for almost everyone I've talked to.

And those damn angles... those got me for sure. Way harder than the Kaplan ones, huh?

I'm curious as to what everyones opinion is here.... are higher, inconsistent scores better or worse then slightly lower, consistent scores? For example, my scores are listed below which I like to think are somewhat consistent (besides QR), but are slightly lower than 'competitive' scores.

18 BIO
18 GEN CHEM
18 ORG CHEM
18 READING
16 QUANT
21 PAT

18 TS
18 AA

I know that some schools such as Penn and Arizona, they put alot of weight on certain sections. For instance, if you don't have good grades in certain sections, then they will eliminate you. BIO and RC are the most important sections on this test😀😀. BIO is by far the most broad, wide range of knowledge which is required for this exam. If you can excel in BIO, that is HUGE and shows them that you can successfully learn and then apply an enormous amount of material in a time pressured situation, just like in Dental school..and then of course when you become a Dentist. A good family friend on the admissions committee at Temple says schools have always traditionally liked to see higher RC scores. Obviously they aren't going to let an individual in who isn't intellectual and cannot read (not saying that this stupid section proves anything about your abilities..b/c honestly, those are ridiculous questions, it doesn't!!). Consistency is good, I mean, how can any of us know for sure, but in the end..a higher overall score I think will outweigh a consistent, lower score. The way I think about it is exactly how it says it on the DAT score report from Prometric. The std numbers are an average of your sections (similar to a test in school). Just because you do very well in one section and just decent in another & you still come out with an A-...it is an A- ...which looks better than a B with consistent deductions in each respective section. I think thats the bottom line. Good luck man.

I'll be the first to say that your scores aren't very competitive, but there's always a chance.

it really depends on the 14 and the weight that schools will place on that score. Otherwise, it looks fine.

KOM..who's numbers are you speaking about in reference to the "aren't very competitive" statement?

i agree. It's getting more and more competitive and a 17 and a 14 aren't going to impress many adcoms. AA of 19 is decent if you have a really good gpa you'll get in somewhere tho

lol - i was going to say done forever? not with those scores

ive seen people with much better scores not get in any where

but good luck, the positive attitude can only help
